Can I download Kontakt 8 Player WITHOUT Komplete Start?

Dear Anyone.

I know that sounds an odd question, tons of instruments for free - but I've not got the storage space spare for it all. I've got Shreddage 3 Free (legit. free!) and it says it needs Kontakt 8 Player to work on (I'm still learning as I go along with all of this) and I royally suck at websites. I've found Kontakt 8 Player mentioned as part of Komplete Start, but I'd have to buy a new hard drive for that. I've PROBABLY got enough space for the player by itself, if it's the same size as Kontakt 5 Player, which I've got, I'd just delete that and use this instead because it's backwardly compatible.Er - it IS backwardly compatible? Like - Kontakt 5 instruments WOULD work on it, along with a few Kontakt 4 and 3 instruments, wouldn't they?

Yours from someone who wishes he knew more what he was woffling on about(!)

Chris.P.S. Sorry for so many questions - my DAW's on Drive C, in my computer, along with all the instruments. IF I invested in an external drive and put Komplete Start on it, would the DAW need to be on the external drive as well, or would it be OK for the .DLL to be on Drive C with the instruments on Drive D (or whatever the external drive calls itself.) I love writing music - understanding computers makes mi brane 'urt! Hope I've chosen the right category, Mods, feel free to move it if not.

It looks like it's 1.16 GB and you can install it individually through Native Access. Once you redeem Komplete Start on NI's site for free, you should see Kontakt 8 Player appear within Native Access.

Irish Harp, Kontakt Factor Selection and all that other stuff I think is optional and you could just ignore it for now since you're limited on hard drive space.

    Dear Kfjahsd980ialf

Thankyou for your lovely, helpful answer. I thought the whole thing would just download as one blob and you'd have to install it all or install nothing, if you see what I mean. I didn't realise you got to choose what to install.

    Thanks again for your help.

    Yours respectfully,

    Chris.

I see that the Kontakt 8 Player in NA installs full Kontakt 8 that you can run as demo but it is not Kontakt 8 player……

No such thing as a "Demo" of Kontakt. It's Full or Player.

If you see the word "demo" anywhere - that is related to the library you are trying to load - not the Kontakt UI.
