Lifehack for Maschine plus. Do you want M.2 NVME SSD inside? I really wanted it, and I got it!
I pulled out the wifi module, inserted the adapter and ssd 512 gb. I formatted it in exFAT beforehand and loaded Kontakt tools onto it. The disk was detected, the tools load quickly, since the read speed is now about 1500 mb per second instead of 60 - usb 2.0. If anyone is interested, join in! I have made my contribution to science! A start has been made, I will experiment further. I will try to install 2 terabytes.

To me that doesn't look as if it's inside 😁

Is it detected when you put the Maschine Plus in computer mode, or do you have to pull it out every time you want to add content to it?

I've been doing a little winter cleaning the last few days. I have 10 old IDE drives laying around. lol. I wonder.
off topic: but wow; I forget just how loud old hard drives were. Checking these old 15gb maxtor drives to see if I wanted to keep any of the data gave me a headache from the noise. Kids these days with their mvne thingies don't know the sound of a hard drive spinning up.

I'll install 2 terabytes, fill it to capacity and pack it inside as planned.😂

Good question! I just tried it, unfortunately no, only SD.

And you will have something to do😀.

So, how do you load all your custom content?

All user content is on the sd card, I did this for Kontakt, I have many libraries optimized for Maschine +, they require high speed nvme.

Oh, interesting… Thanks for sharing.
Why not just buy a 2230 M.2 SSD/NVME, wich is the same size as the wifi card (?)
I read the tittle and thought it was gonna be about the extra sata pins on the board that have no connector soldered, now this is something that a brave soul needs to try, as this way you would not lose the wifi… It's just SATA, not NVME but 600MB/s is still way better than 60 :)

Try it without any SD Card in the slot and name the NVME the same as the default SD.

Do you think it will work without an adapter?
Or about a smaller size?
I don't need Wi-Fi, if anything I'll update via a network cable.
Soldering the SATA is a very delicate job, the connectors are already on the way, I'll try it when I have time.🙂0 -
Yes, it should… 2030 is the exact same size as the wifi/bluetooth m.2 afaik but double check. I've tried this on a regular motherboard so I don't see a reason it shouldn't work on the M+, if I were to test this I'd just buy a used low capacity one first to test it out.
Theres not a lot of free space inside the M+ and having that adaptor dangling around would give me a ton of anxiety, it could move around and cause a short or something… Unless you planned for a way to secure it, in that case it would probably be faster in the event you need to remove it to add more files in.
Not sure how many PCIE lanes the M+ has tho... If it's just 2x instead of 4x it might slow down the nvme/ssd significantly but should still be faster than an SD.

If you have a heatgun and a ton of flux it shouldn't be too hard, personally I would ask on a repair shop to get it done by someone with experience.

Yeah, you could tin the pads first, then sit the legs over the pads, heat and apply downwards pressure.
With a nice small tip though, position the legs, tack one at each end to hold it, then do the rest.

Of course I found out everything from the connector specifications before starting, it won't work without an adapter, chips down - it's not logical. And I checked it first on a mini PC. The speed is 1500 for writing and reading. How did you check? nvme physically won't fit in there, look where the jumper is.

Without an SD card it won't even connect to a PC.
