VST2 Versions

Hi, I seem to have only the VST 3 versions installed. IIRC, I previously selected to install VST 3 only within Native Access. But I don't see that option now, so I must be wrong about that. Anyway, none of the VST 2 instances included in my Ableton previous Ableton saves load. I had Ableton scan the folder where I see files like Reaktor.vst (rather than .vst3) and the VST versions still aren't found in the plugin list. Any advice?

You need to run Live in Rosetta mode for VST2 to work but I guess even then, in most cases, it would only be with outdated versions as VST2 is deprecated on Mac and less and less developers are even installing or supporting it (inc NI)

Thank you. I did so, but as soon as I saw that Ableton (and presumably all other plugins) wanted to reauthorize, I quickly closed it out.

I might decide to try it again, for the purposes of saving the preset files from the VST2 sessions and opening them up in a VST3 session. Is that possible (as long as the VST2 work)? If so, I'm a bit confused about what file type/extension I should be saving. I remember there are .KSI files and .ENS. files.

Perhaps I save KSI for plugins only capable of a single patch/instrument (like Massive) and ENS for those that can host multiple (like Kontakt.)

I guess I'm just wondering how folks prepared for the upgrade. It seems I missed the bus by saving my presets using Ableton racks, rather than exporting the NI presets from VST2 and opening them in VST3.

I've not heard of other plugins wanting to reauthorise just for a change to Rosetta mode before - this has never happened to me and I use a lot of plugins

Not tried Live though in Rosetta mode - maybe it is being finicky, would be worth reaching out to Ableton over that though as it doesn't really make sense?

Most hosts support VST2-3 migration, Live is one of the few exceptions for major hosts
