Maschine 3.0 General Discussion

But, you feel me here, right? The whole "you are the only one with this issue" isnt true, and going in that direction causes blood to boil when customers are trying to get help on a public facing forum.
Again - in the end Im using MK3 in midi mode. This has become too much trouble to maintain in my templates, so I stopped using it. Sometimes Ill use cubase, which has fewer problems with maschine than Bitwig, and the rest of the time Im just in BWS using Triaz or using the mk3 for random things. Maybe some day this will get better. Maybe not.

^^THIS!!!! This! Why do we continue the pretense that Maschine1/2/3 are a good arranger workflow, and are worth the trouble to configure and route inside a DAW, but the truth is that it ISNT worth the trouble for the basic arranger and features!
I think NI want maschine to be more valuable to us, and to fill a larger role…. than it is really capable of, and this is one of the biggest disconnects over the years. NI want maschine to be "flagship software" but it feels more like a big, bulky soundpack player.

I understand your frustration and how what I said which was actually "It introduces problems for you" and definitively not "you are the only one" like you're saying can be interpreted like the latter but that was not the intention, I was not fishing for an argument, I was fishing for a solution.
What is not true is that "Add another group/instance it stops working in some DAWs, creates loops" since I see no threads here about it, at the very least it should be a rare problem since I am pretty sure we got lots of Bitwig users here with Maschine routed, this seems like a reasonable logic to me but it does not imply it's impossible. It could be that your setup has a specific small thing that is interfering, a preference setting, maybe a bug or conflict… I was actually interested in getting to the bottom of it because if an issue is not reproducible or even known then it will never be fixed.
Again, sorry if I hurt your feelings but I was really just trying to help.

Yes. The one thing that the Machine software does better than any other software is control the Maschine hardware and enable musicians to use the Maschine hardware as an instrument/production device.
My point was that I can't imagine anyone using the Maschine software as a standalone application without the hardware as it's markedly inferior to every other production software or DAW out there.

You've personally tried every single piece of production software or DAW in existence, and confirmed that Maschine is worse than all of them? Colour me sceptical.

Ok… Maybe I'm wrong to go in this direction, but…
I've been reading the complaints here, not about the update, but about Maschine in general, and it makes me wonder how you guys use it.
I bought the 1st-gen Maschine software way back when it came out in 09 or 10 or whatever. I was so impressed with the speed of the workflow as far as getting ideas down. All this time later, I'm still using Maschine and, although it doesn't do everything I think it COULD do, I'm very happy with the music that I can make with it. For one, I've learned it and I'm comfortable with it. Secondly, I'm good at finding ways around the software limitations to still do what I want and do it fairly quickly.
This does not mean that everyone should be as happy as I am with it. I'm just saying, when I read some of your complaints, I wonder why you just don't go find the software or hardware that does what you need it to do? I am about to start using Ableton Live 12 as a full-on DAW, but I'm not at all going to abandon using Maschine in my workflow. I just don't see it. There's no way I'm going to record full tracks of vocals in Maschine, so I found my way around that. I don't know what you all need Maschine to do. I do some pretty complex tracks at times, and I have no problem inside of Maschine software. Some things aren't intuitive, some things have had to be figured out, and some just aren't really possible.
I guess I just can't help but wonder if there's more complaining than working things out. The level of complaints just feels overdone to me.

A DAW in any flavour is a tool just as Maschine is a tool. In the right hands they're both capable of producing commercial ready songs. Maschine excels in it's role along with the Maschine hardware in giving a largely computer free integration, more so with Maschine+.
I've moved on to Ableton Live along with Push but I still like to sketch ideas in Maschine before moving them across to my DAW, this suits my workflow very well.
I got back into producing some 15 years ago most of which was dedicated to Maschine and Komplete and although it's had it's frustrations along that journey, by and large I've enjoyed the ride.

Up until about 7 months ago i was using maschine software in cubase a plugin and setup the routing to sequence in my mpc.. and track out in cubase also use other vsts in cubase. It worked pretty good until the lasted maschine 2.15 update

Nail on the head ;P I think there are broadly 2 types of users: musicians, that can use most tools to get the ideas in their heads into actual music, and are able and willing to work around limitations and quirks because they feel a creative urge to "record" their musical ideas with any means available to them.
And then there is the other group: lovers of (music) technology, that want to play around with synths, samplers, software, and if this produces some actual music that's worth listening to, that would be awesome, but that's not the main purpose.
Comparable to someone just tinkering with a guitar on the couch, for fun and relaxation, or someone actually recording guitar-based songs on a rusty tascam 4track.1 -
I use Maschine precisely because its not a DAW. I have other apps for that. As an ex MPC head, nothing today, barring MPC X, comes close to the comfy feeling I get using Maschine when I make beats. I dont like the touchscreen akais nor iPads, they arent as fun to write on, too cerebral, not tactile enough if that makes sense.
If I try to compare Maschine to a DAW, sure, its weak and "out of its depth". But if I try to compare it to something like MPCs of old, it kicks ass and then some. I just hope the platform survives more or less in its current form and evolves, so that standalone use can rival the experience of using it tethered.

I would be interested to see what NI could do with a DAW, but they don't HAVE to make one.
I do think they could be better at what they ARE doing, but I think we are trying to define what NI should be based on different personal parameters.

Yeah, I created at least one thread, as well as left a few comments, as well as made a support request a while back (6+ monthsish). Its all good — no feelings hurt, as when Im interacting with brands I dont expect much anymore. Again — the whole thing is moot now since I moved on. I dont use that workflow anymore, and that is NI's loss now, not mine. Its cool that you dont remember the years of threads I participated in with you, where I helped others and etc, before the forum and brand went insane. No love lost at all D-One.

That's funny lmaaaao! So you believe the people who want to avoid the troublesome routing of maschine inside their DAWs, who prefer just to use maschine as a glorified soundpack player (because lets face it — that is its greatest strength and role) to access NI's curated, specifically paired content = casuals? And those who use the frustrating, limited, ancient sequencer inside maschine - and dont use a powerful DAW - are the real ones??? Tell me it aint so!!! ROFFFL

How do you usually move your ideas from Maschine to Ableton? :)

Usually by dragging and dropping from Maschine directly onto a track in Ableton either as midi data or converting to an audio track dependant on what's required.
