Kontrol S Mk3 - Custom Midi Templates - Do Midi Templates Dynamically to VSTs in Ableton
Kontrol S Mk3 - Custom Midi Templates - Do Midi Templates Dynamically / Automatically map in Ableton Live to whichever vst plugin is selected with the mouse? If I have a current project of 50-100 plugins I want whichever plugin I select in the project with the mouse for my midi template to instantly load and give me hands on control with my custom midi map.
It's not really going to work for me if every time I want to change which tweak something I have to go into templates - find the right midi template and load it myself.
I'm thinking of buying on Instead of Push as you can customise bank names and colours and I prefer the controls to be underneath the big screen. However, I know push will automatically switch control to whatever plugin I select which is a huge deal.
Thanks

Or you can just use the default template and use a script to map the controls dynamically

I guess with electra one it's more difficult cause they use the screen and it has to update the names and values of the parameter. This is possible for long time now with many daws one way or another but unfortunately not that often used.

Hello,
if you load the plugin within komplete kontrol and it's nks ready it will work that way. For instruments you can record also automation but unfortunately not for FX loaded after the instrument - but you can control them too. But I can check tomorrow again with my s49mk3 to be absolutely sure.

Wow this is amazing 🤩

So it definitely requires a 3rd party solution then. It's good that there is one thanks to Kymeia but really I would expect it to do it by default. It seems like push is probably the solution i'm looking for but it's so overpriced and doesn't even let you name banks.

I wouldn't call it third party, the 'User Remote Script' ships with Ableton and basically gives you the instructions to walk you through how to map a MIDI controller's outputs to Ableton devices. It's very easy, even I could do it and I am no script wizard :)

I thought you made yourself - what I meant by 3rd party is I thought this solution was not provided by and kept up to date by Native Instruments officially. I'm just concerned if it's not that it stops being updated and stops working making the S49 not useful to me anymore. Thanks

I adapted it myself but the template is provided by Ableton and ships with Live who I presume one could call 'the second party' in this relationship? Because it is 100% user configurable and a simple text based script and it is made to be used with any MIDI controller that has knobs and buttons it's possible to easily adapt it even if say MIDI cc's are changed, so I can't see it going out of date. It's not like a driver and independent of OS etc.

I think I now remember this script, you can also learn buttons to go through the devices and through the tracks if I remember correctly, I'm not a ableton live user myself now I used it for a short time some years ago.

Initially I was wanting an Electra One as my main controller but it didn't have this functionality that I described above. Some guy is working on it but it seems to be hit and miss whether it recognises the plugin or not - it seems to have developed into a 644 post thread so I thought it was a difficult thing to do. https://forum.electra.one/t/ableton-live-midi-remote-script-control-surface/1420

Thanks I may end up trying the s49 then if it works just was well as push. Hopefully there are some demo videos showing it off - I'm surprised I haven't seen an NI one using these plugin control features in Ableton.

I think it's just that the user remote scripted 'blue hand' control is not specifically a NI tool, it works with any MIDI controller
However I did find a video showing it in action with a M32

I'm wondering how that video posted above relates to the new midi templates functionality. I see that blue hand allows you to control the first 8 parameters of whichever device has the blue hand. What if you want the same blue hand control but rather than controlling the first 8 parameters it automatically uses your own midi template that controls the whole instrument like you mapped it across various tabs on the controller?

Then you would need to edit the script to take account of the cc numbers in your new template.
Which by the way doesn’t just map the first 8 params but 8 banks of 8 params, so 64 in total, switched using the 8 buttons0 -
Oh 64 is good - can you select the order of the 64 and organise the banks of 64 though or are they in a preset order?
