Trying to find answers for Kontrol MK3, but Why are so many posts being closed ?

I have been trying to find answers to get going smoothly on my new S88 MK3. I came across an issue where I wanted to audition sounds, and not keep switching back n forth from the browser, to the edit window.. A simple feature that was on the MK2, but now I cannot find any information on it.

So I finally found this post which is NOT RESOLVED, and it's closed >

Pin Browser on the Kontrol MK3

I've been away from the NI forums for a few years, and recently been trying to interact with ongoing issues I've experienced in just a few days of using NI products again, and have noticed an obvious trend happening here with the moderation.

Posts are being deleted, when there's any sort of feedback which may be negative, or raise a few questions for the company we're spending our money on. Negative for the company shouldn't mean an automatic deletion of posts. Are you trying to get more customers to leave ?

I understand the need to moderate conversations to some degree, but this is overboard !

This is starting to look like we have a system of totalitarianism going on now.

Why ? Is this the reason why the original forum was taken down as well ?

What's going on with the moderation here now?

Having some insides, I can tell you that probably the problem resides in NI actual situation: they NEED to cut expenses.

So…if they don’t have enough money (or don’t want to use it) to keep an adequate number of developers for the products portfolio they have and they fired many of them, imagine how much they are investing in the forum team…

In practice, the “professionals” (paid by NI and therefore doing it as a job) interacting in a constant way here on the forum are…2 persons…

They need to “use” other users like you and me (not paid) to act as moderators. And the way they chose them is by simply picking them up between the more active here in the forum.

So… all we can have is some willing people doing what they can, but no real “professionalism”.

This…plus…yeah…as you said, they have all the interest in closing some not so positive for them thread, and bury others (so that the average user will never step into them).

But…hey…when people tell them they are answering only the questions they want in the Ask Me Anything ignoring the most inconvenient ones, they will cancel your critique post and answer you that “We will continue to answer them up until, and potentially even beyond, then, until most are answered.”, to then simply disappear with the not given inconvenient answers…

    But…we are just “speculating”:

Why would anyone delete that, it's just daft! This is a question that has come up many times, I remember asking it when I first tried out KK3. It should not be particularly taxing on NI resources to address.

    Having some insides

You have insides ? Please share ! , I have next to none and the few tidbits that I do have then as a Moderator I am not allowed to share 🤔

Besides that then I find the criticism by you and others here completely fair , but I will add this :

In practice, the “professionals” (paid by NI and therefore doing it as a job) interacting in a constant way here on the forum are…2 persons…

N.I. indirectly has been allocating more resources than 2 in as much that e.g. Matthew_NI , even quoted by yourself in the above , also have been lending his expertise to the forum. Of course IMO then Matthew_NI also has been doing this to keep track on issues first hand as well as mending some of what he considers misunderstandings and misrepresentations of 'facts' as N.I. see them. Prior you also saw Hayo_NI doing the same. Though the actual number of cases where he is called upon are few since he is a Traktor specialist then also Martiniix_NI has been/is around. I think however that it generally is far above the pay-grade of e.g. Matthew_NI to attend the forum for other than what he has been doing. So while two is the most active then at least in-directly then N.I. do allocate resources to more than two persons. (Also then other personas has been attending when e.g. Jeremy_NI has been away or taking time off for whatever reasons)

They need to “use” other users like you and me (not paid) to act as moderators. And the way they chose them is by simply picking them up between the more active here in the forum.
So… all we can have is some willing people doing what they can, but no real “professionalism”.

I think that this is a completely fair description also. But I would like to add that with respect to the 'doing what we can' part then the 'limitations' are imposed (as are the lack of “real professionalism”) in as much as we the moderators are seen as only users and we do not have any access to any special resources or any system access not directly related to the forum and even with respect to that then we are limited compared to the Administrators. So limitations of what Moderators can do is something rather directly imposed on us rather than what we as persons are skilled enough to do or capable of. On top of that then add that N.I. in most cases will not approve of Moderators getting too creative or in any other way being out of line seen from N.I. point of view. That's simply how things work here.

Before me answering, please consider not taking things personally because when I criticize usually I’m referring to NI as a company and to the people taking the decisions and allocating resources, not to the workers who are suffering too from those decisions (I have plenty of understanding for underemployed developers having to run from one task to the other because the employees are simply…not enough)

Yes, I have some insides. No, I won’t share. And not because I’m not allowed, but because I’m a correct person and I would never share something said by somebody when he thinks to be in a some way “private” conversation. And you being in the same NI Discord private channel as I do, I find strange you having “next to none”. It’s enough to read what is there and to participate when they organize the sync meetings, like the one from 2 days ago about the new future releases.

The people “interacting in a constant way” with the forum (and therefore dedicated to it) , as I said, are indeed 2: Jeremy and Matt (you could add Kaiwan, but evidently her job for the forum must be something else, since her interactions are quite limited). I will not consider someone coming once or twice in a month (if we are lucky) as a forum resource. All the people you mentioned appear here only when it’s in NI’s interest (something new to sell, some criticism to shut up,…), not in the users’ interest.
No, taking 30 min in a month to answer a couple of things is NOT being a forum resource.

For the third point…I already answered: my analysis is not directed to mods (even because, in my book, moderators should exactly MODERATE, not give answers or explain things). What it seems to me is that NI is so lucky to have some “volunteers” doing the job THEY should be doing.
Often the word “professionalism” is misinterpreted: it literally means you are doing it as your profession, not that you are or you are not skilled enough or capable to do it.

That’s simply how things work here

This ones lost on me, pinning already works in the software so the code is done ! When auditioning sounds the hardware should work identical to the software ( standalone/vst )

They can easily add a function to hit shift + button = pin, ok done, now everyone migrating from the MK2 is not lost. I spent most of my day searching this one out, only to find the thread was closed.

Guys @ NI can you get us a fix for this in the next firmware update ? And commit to it, this one should be an easy fix for the developers, and the community will be happier, one request at a time right ;)

    Kudos to you 🙂

Other than that then I wrote you a very lengthy answer here. Then after doing so I deleted it all since some of what you are referring to does not belong in public (you ought not refer to private meetings in public either) and with respect to all the rest then I think that it stretches far beyond the original question about Moderators supposed behavior here so me continuing discussing with you would be derailing the initial subject of discussion here (which IMO were/is about supposed moderation policies and supposed Moderator behavior)..

The private Discord is not a secret.

It’s even stated in the community ranks that if someone reaches the Expert status he gets an invitation to it.

Why should it not belong in public? Or even refer to it?

…which are also not a secret.

And that “either” and the “some” you used before mean that you meant something else when you wrote.

If then you want to change version now…ok…😏

Anyway…I answered the OP questions about what was going on with moderation, then I answered to what YOU wrote me. But all of a sudden we are really derailing the thread now…so…let’s stop it here 👍🏼.

If you want you can send me your “very lengthy answer” in private

Here's another couple of threads, I was struggling to find answers to as well, and yet here we go again the threads are closed. This is a complete disservice to the community, and customers who want to find answers to the questions we have for using our hardware + software we purchased.

In my case the Kontrol S88 MK3 + Komplete 15 Collectors Edition, just cost me around $1800.00 and I'm not at all happy with the way threads are being closed in this community. I want to take part in asking questions and building upon the answers that are already in progress, yet the moderators are choosing to silence and cease any further discussions on these topics. ;( Not cool whoever you are. Please stop this.

No , that meant that you were also referring to subject/content of said meeting , and that I would not do that as little as I would refer to the meeting itself and that you ought not do so either ! Ref. :

    Okay, then!

Good news; this weekend I made a very good beef stewoup. That's a cross between a stew and a soup! And it had carrots, peppers, onions, potatoes, and a bunch of other delicious stuff in there, with a rich and dark beef broth. Well seasoned and just about a 2 on the spicy scale. Good for the bones and joints as the weather here starts to turn.

Why? 'Cause I don't watch football. Either kind. Or bar brawls. Either kind there too, if you get my meaning. Okay, carry on, folks…and let's all stay friends! 😉
