[Traktor 4 Pro] Once Again: Tidal, Spotify, anything: WHEN?

Hard to tell. I wonder what the actual statistics are.

Tidal or any platform that supports is not a bad request.
For people who don't think it is for them or don't dj enough to even use it I get where you are coming from. I mean some DJs just have gigs and rarely change or have styles that use music they already bought. Of course streaming is useless for that.
And especially if you don't broadcast or get many gigs streaming services are also a waste of money. Why pay and then do one gig or show a month?
And depending on laws and licensing or the country you live in.
I used to think streaming would be no good. But then I tried it out. Streaming is awesome. But I use it a lot. It actually saves me money.
Hopefully NI keeps updating and adds more platforms.

For the music and genre I use. I wouldn't be upset having to get new music if my ever-changing playlists disappeared. What you are saying is not an issue. I have a ton of music that I bought and ripped from CDs. And I simply use the streaming instead for newer music and music I might never get to use. At the moment my collection is infinite.
Would I be bummed if streaming suddenly was gone? I guess. But why would a platform that already supports streaming for it's music anyway do that?

This is interesting → I read recently that although some services have over 150 million tracks, and there are around 120,000 new tracks uploaded every day, there are still huge gaps.
These stats are the grand totals. They don't take into account the fact that many tracks are duplicated en masse. One survey suggested that less than 20% of all recorded music is available online.
In other words, as a DJ, if you rely on streaming to provide music to your clients, you're missing out on 80% of the potential catalogue.

Yes this is definitely correct. The perfect example is Bandcamp. Some of the coolest music and startup artists are on Bandcamp.
Believe me, I really search deep into Beatport to find music. But the thing is most people don't want strange or unrelatable music. They want something their friends have heard. Or something that has a really cool remix.
Music and DJing is a particular set of skills but only recognizable to the fan base the artist becomes a part of.
From what I have noticed. There are some certain types of DJs now. But all of them eventually end up being recognized online.
There are.
Mainstream. The big ones that could simply just show up and push play. All recognizable music.
Mainstream respected. Show up and instead of pushing play do some slightly raw mixes and surprise tracks. All recognizable music.
Twitch style shout out DJs. Mostly mix entire tracks with simple fades or just simply say the name of the track and start it.
Radio style. Mostly crossfaded tracks. But trying to add unheard music or up and coming artists. Many times this is a label driven playlist
Resident DJs. Many times these are my favorites. Amazing mixing skills and flawless journey through sound. Leaving you wonder how did the DJ just do that?
There might be a few more styles of Djing too. I have respect for all. Sync or no sync. Scratching. Open Format. Etc.
My point is the music in some ways doesn't matter. It is what style and what tools you use to attract an audience and have fun.
Much love to all the DJs out there.
Keep pushing boundaries and improving the tools we all use. Producers will make tracks and the DJs will mix them up.
So much fun to be had.
My descriptions might be a bit off. Just think of them as examples.

I’m not sure why people who don’t want a feature feel they have to pile comments on saying the feature isn’t required—just because you don’t want it, doesn’t mean others can’t have a legitimate use for it.
Having streaming services integrated into Traktor is super useful. You don’t have to stream it directly in your live sets (although fair play to you if you choose to do so). Personally, I find it super useful to bring in new tracks in my practice sessions at home and test whether they are going to fit, without having to jump out of Traktor and out of the flow. Tidal integration would be great, or Apple Music, or Bandcamp, SoundCloud etc…. I mean I love the workflow with Beatsource, but it just isn’t enough in my opinion, and the OP is right to put forward a view that this is a feature that should be prioritised or at least get an updated response from the dev team on where it fits in the roadmap. Plus, it is yet another ‘feature’ where other platforms are ahead (in particular, everyone’s #2 platform, djay pro).4 -
Yes. Very well said

I was mainly asking if this person even tried what is currently available. I agree fully with any streaming service added. Especially if Bandcamp is ever an option. Yes to it all

Wow how things change,.. for worst. Some ppl on this thread are confusing djing with being an entertainer.
The music and knowing the music is a big thing for me. Nobody has time to play the top 20 on whatever show

Lol DJs are definitely entertaining people and always have. Most DJs don't do crazy over the top mixes. Most simply mix music in the genre that their audience likes.
So many ways to play music. I bet most music you listen to is simply a track without any type of mix. I could also bet you have heard music you like played by a DJ that is not doing some amazing remix.
The term DJ is simply someone playing music. There are many ways to do it. And entertain the audience.

That's exactly how I see it too, I don't just play random unknown music, I don't prepare my set but I still know the music that is intended for it.
And when looking for new music, I don't need Traktor or a streaming service.
But I have to admit that it might be a different style of music that I play, because psytrance isn't just played on the streaming apps. Or if so, it's also difficult to sort. I need, for example, sorting by label and year and all the ****** streaming providers like Spotify don't offer that.
But gen z doesn't have their own music collection anyway, not even a single pirated copy, you see them every day in Reddit talking about how they want to be a DJ and asking where they can get music from, they own nothing and suddenly want everything. 😂

comments on saying the feature isn’t required
Where did anyone say that? 🙄

But why does it actually matter if you learn to use what is available and people like what you do. Our even if you simply like what you do.
I have enjoyed Twitch streams where the DJ talks over all the music. It is a different style. Who is anyone to judge?
If you don't like streaming music or certain styles I guess you simply stay in your lane. And be happy with who you are.
I appreciate all avenues of music production and Djing. They all influence what comes next. I have heard some really cool mixes that I am sure have been made because the DJ or artist ignored or used tools that others thought were standard.
We as artists should not put limits or bias on technology or what others find useful. In fact maybe instead of being naysayers you all could appreciate other ways of Djing.
I don't especially like most hip hop. But I will watch a stream or listen just for the talent involved.
Come on people have an open mind.
