Help with “advanced” MIDI commands
need help with 2 issues mapping my f1 in MIDI mode to the pattern players
- I would like to map the display screen to show a different number based on either the sample kit chosen or the instrument selected for the pattern players. Was wondering if this was possible and the MIDI out routing for the screen on the F1. Eg. Drum = 1, snare = 2, bass = 3 etc.
- I’d like to have a button light up if any of the 4 pattern players are playing. I’ve tried to map a button for MIDI out for unit on to fx slot 1-4 but it only seems to work if all 4 are playing. I want a light to indicate if any are playing (1 or 2 or 3 or 4). Any one know how I can achieve this?

I stand corrected. Got it mixed up with my 32-step seq mapping which has support for the display… Too many mappings haha.
The Kit selector has a dedicated output command but the sound selector doesn't, the only way is to track button presses with a modifier and then display that value on the display. Not worth it on my opinion.1

thanks. I will check yours out! I saw it a few days ago but decided to use the NI official one and mod it. Think I didn’t use yours originally bc I thought buttons 1 and two were missing. I see they are incorporated into the encoder which is a better way to do it! Might copy a few elements!
Found the kit selector and was able to output to the screen using the 7-point screen > both cols in the dropdown menu of the F1 output. More info now! Thanks! I hide the FX most of the time so I need indicators on my gear! I am thinking about using your idea about modifier variables to track the change of the selected sound using colours in one of the pads.Still trying to figure out of I can have a light be activated if any of the four pattern players are playing… any ideas?

Add Out → FX Unit → Unit On will get you there. Although you did not specify if you are thinking about a single button that activates when one of Units is on or if you need four dedicated LED buttons for this.

I have I button light that I want activate if any of the pattern players are playing.
I tried to add out for Unit On for Fx unit 1-4. I run into an issue where the light will turn off if any of the FX units are turned off.
EG. I’m controlling Pattern player 3. All players are playing. I turn off pattern player 3 and the light goes off. Pattern player 1/2/4 are still playing.
