Traktor pro 4: stem separation but still no live stems separation

I bought and tried the new version of Traktor with great enthusiasm.

I couldn't wait to finally try the live stems that we've been waiting for so long. And they are there. BUT it's not "LIVE stems"…

let me explain: they just implemented a tool to create stems "quickly" in traktor.

And what's the problem? the problem is that you have to analyze each song 1 by 1 (you cannot analyze all your tracks in 1 click with a CTRL+A left click). I have 5000 tracks... and the SECOND problem, when you create a track stem, it's a file of minimum 20MB (5000 *20mb = 100Gb)

they talked about live stems in their press releases. that's why I'm a little upset…

and I'm not going to talk about the flexible beatgrid which is not automatic and therefore which is of no use on tracks which do not have a stable bpm

I hope the new features will improve with future updates

Before buying you should have tried the demo, I was very disappointed

Flexible beatgrid is similar to serato or rekordbox, and also works fine on older tracks with a live drummer.

It's a bit of effort, but it works.

I understand and feel the pain of the comments made so far, but feel we should be grateful for what's started to happen with this latest update.

Everyone knows that DJay Pro is now the gold standard in beatgridding, and now all DJ software manufacturers have their work cutout playing catch-up.

I think NI have made the right decision releasing now, with the given features......it shows commitment to the platform and shows us that things are really starting to happen.

Within the next 6 months or so, all DJ software will have AI beatgridding like DJay Pro IMO...... without it, you no longer have a competitive product in the game.

Batch processing of Stems will come quickly in the next update I'm sure. If you've used live stems on any other platform, you'll know that it's not perfect and batch processing is the smart way to prep your music anyway, so I'm not that bothered that it doesn't automatically create the stems live.

I'm most pleased that they've kept the Stems file format and believe that NI are ahead of the curve on this point.

I predict Djay Pro and other popular DJ software will make the file format compatible with their own platforms in the near future.

Well done and thank you NI for partially restoring my faith in Traktor.

they've kept the Stems file format

Are the stems created by TP4 the same saved format as the original Traktor "real" stems or those created via the Stem Creator? In other words are they interchangeable?

I am very happy with the update, it is a big step forward, Traktor is a pioneer with stems and although it left them on the back burner, it now seems to put it back on the front line, it is evident that stems take up disk space and a good processor and a good graphics but this is normal, I don't understand people's criticism sometimes

What is the difference between original Traktor "real" stems and the ones from stem creator?

I didn't say there was a difference. Just mentioning the two options - prepackaged or DIY.

How it work fine with a live drummer when you have to manually set the beatgrid everytime there is a tempo change?

if the drummer is not on point, just kick him out of the band - or make him the driver instead! 😂

to be serious: it's a lot of work, similar to warping a track in ableton. but the results are pretty god.

Hahaha. Most of them are already dead though…

If i got songs that are not on point, as a multigenre dj, in a collection of thousands, i would like something like Auto "AI" BeatGrid analyzation, instead of manually putting 30 BeatGrids in my lets say 500 live drummer songs…
Even if we do it manually, if in a 32 loop there are 5 different beatgrids, how the loop is going to work?

my actually best workaround for this is not for free, but really amazing. i purchased a few days ago neural mix pro 2 from algoriddim and it works like a champ. you can feed it with songs in unsteady tempo and it will put you out stems in very good quality and all of it is perfectly quantized in the end. so two thing in one. after that you can use as e.g. nuo stems or freeware to make them work as .stems (.mp4) and import it again in traktor.

Even if we do it manually, if in a 32 loop there are 5 different beatgrids, how the loop is going to work?

traktor don't allows phase skips, what means that they wont be any hickups or something if you loop a section of 2 bars and there is a tempo change in it.

    Good about the loops!

But there is lot of work for the first one. Thats why i would like my djing program to do it for me. Not because im lazy, but because we are in the advanced technology era.
Nevertheless, we always have the manual jog sync for the kind of situations.
    Cheers!

Yes, the stem format is the same. 5 aac stereo tracks.

Nice work mate, but its common sense, thats what we are talking about. I dont want 20 beatgrids in every live drummer song…
