Controllers with knobs

I’ve been using Traktor s2, 3, 4 since 2010. Not only because the software is for the most part reliable, but mainly for the loop and move knobs. Those knobs are absolutely essential when I DJ.


are there any other controllers from different brands that provide this? I’ve been looking and can’t seem to find any. I’m just curious!

    Nope. No other controllers with MOVE and LOOP knobs.

    Denon Prime 4, LC6000 and SC6000 feature Loop knobs. Pretty sure they are not the only one.

    A loop knob is a stepped encoder that can be pressed to set a loop of variable size (or release it), while turning it adjusts the size of the loop, before or after setting it.

    A move knob is a stepped encoder that can be pressed to deactivate a loop you are in, or reactivate this specific loop, while turning it will either beatjump the track forward or backward with a value equal to the loop size, or move the active loop you are in (including the current position) either forward or backward.

    This allows for flexible, creative, ad-hoc, jump-and-loop play.

    All Traktor Kontrol S4 variants have this feature, and it's awesome once you get used to it. For that reason i try to incorporate this in all my mods for non S4 controllers with the right amount of encoders (like S5, D2, X1).

    You can literally map this functionality with any stepped, pushabke encoder. Like xone k2.

    For example. I have mapped one encoder to be a loop size selector (rotating), and loop activator (pressing). But while holding shift if loop mode is active, rotating the knob will beat jump with the activated loop size across the track. If there is no loop mode active, i will just move play head across the track.

    Yes, just like the default mapping for the X1 encoders. I just prefer to not use SHIFT layer. One-hand use is king. 😁
