Hello~I am really tired of this problem on ANY computer I use or used!

Never mind the hassle, but now NTK cannot be downloaded from Google Drive?

STUCK on that!

pfff and support seems non-existent, I do not seem to be able to send support - most NON professionals use it on weekends!

Use you own servers, at least when Google has too many requests = means something is wrong with Native!

    @Aurasic - I sympathize, I really do.

    @ anyone from the NI team… PLEASE, here is yet another rightfully annoyed customer because of this googledrive debacle. Indeed please fix this. I had failure after failure after failure trying to download stuff for months on end. When are you going to host your products on your own servers?

    Exactly, this is 2024, not 1994!

    Also, I do not wish to login with 'flipping' Google.

    I steer well clear of them!

    Why not use a partition on your own servers or cloud and auto-manage it yourself!

    There are no such problems, if you do the right thing (since yes, we are not in 1994):

    Use your own computer with admin rights, as most people do, and not as a simple user.

    You will never encountered such problems, ever… on any software! You will never need any external links. You will never need any help (99%) since everything will run smoothly.

    It is so simple and it is your right too. To be the "master" of your own machine and not some "guest"…

    You do however have a very valid point. NI should use its own servers and not Google Drive!
    +1 to this.

    Always been on administrator, and this is the 'only' application bothering everybody…

    Anyway, I will be setup differently in a couple of years or so.

    Isn't it heart warming? All those emotions, so much anger and hostility… and not the slightest info about hardware, software version etc. which could lead to a solution.

    Always the same.

    Not only that - I cannot ever recall having to "download" the NTK components separately - especially from Google of all places?

    Am I missing something here?

    That is weird… you are on Windows, right?
    You shouldn't have such problem with admin rights…
    Can you check on your Windows Services to see if NTK has the below start-up values?

    It is a very normal thing, a user to get frustrated because he can't use his well-paid products, so he might reacts with a bit of anger… this is not hostility. A bit of anger is understandable, sometimes even healthy because it is also part of been a human (in spite that the "new age hawks" trying hard to convince us otherwise)… Of course this is tolerated as long as the person (user) remain civilized on the conversation and this user (who started the thread) do exactly that. Thus, there is nothing wrong here. :-)

    @Sunborn If you would work in support, and it's the 1.000th time you get no info at all, but just anger and hostility, then you would think different about it, I think.

    In general, you are right and i have seen this many times from many users (i even had to delete some really nasty comments). And it is wrong behavior. And 50% (or more) of all cases it is a user's fault or user ignorance or user's wrong settings, not NI's.
    But hey, let's be fair, this is not the case here. I can see some anger (partly justified) but not hostility. :-)

    "SOLUTION - log on!"

    You're kidding right? Is this noted somewhere on their website or..??? - Agree. The less I have to do with google the better I like it. I didn't make an agreement with Google when I bought my product.

    @Sunborn

    Thankyou for chiming in here. Other than your agreement with a lot of people here on the forums which is the main issue, that is, about NI hosting their own software, I thought you were just hitting out at us like the usual NI thought police here, until I re-read your posts. What I find really annoying is people assume its the consumers fault pretty much most of the time. No different here. It is TOTALLY ON NI about the google drive debacle. There are scads of people who cant download stuff because the quota has been exceeded or too many people have asked for a certain file, or in my case add to that "network problems" .

    Trust me, I could, but I wont, post the lengthy discourse ongoing back and forth with support for months which turned out to be the most frustrating and irritating experience ever becasue of this same issue. Even so I remained cordial, patient, co-operative and all those good things. NI was also pleasant but I found I had to repeat things over and over, with numerous screenshots, was given alternative links which were the wrong version, etc etc Yes I'm human and made a wee oversite, along with SCADS of others, but my ordeal would have been so much more productive for both of us if googledrive worked properly. Ive got screenshots of all this happening.

    Can you confirm or not if we need to "sign into Google" to get any downloads?

    @Sunborn
    Thanks for the Windows info.

    Yes, all is as expected.

    It is very strange, I have the same problem on 2 computers.
    Main PC is a i5 2.7GHz with 32Gb RAM

    The only 2 problems that I have are, N.A. with this usual problem and ~(I am on BitWig) sometime BitWig kind of takes ages to load Plugins (not always0 and no matter if it is a 30 tracks projects or just 2 tracks!

    Generally speaking I am happy with the setup - considering I have a quite strict security, but it is non-influential on these problems - I tested it.

    Also they are free - so to speak - to roam my PC.

    Usually when I download the NTK almost always fix it - still do not understand why there is not pop-up fro the NTK or NA to 'update it'!

    This time it was only Google being … well … Google… so I thought - knowing THEM … lets login - et voila' could download - really?

    My browser is tight, cookies delete as soon as I logout or close a tab and so on.

    Let's enjoy some Sunday freedom from work!

    I am not a young lad, but young in mind and In a few years I will retire and hopefully be a full-time hobby - of course family comes first (ish) 😂!

    As you said, it was only a burst of annoyance, especially because I am someone that keeps computers 'clean' as much as possible…

    Happy Sunday, everyone!

    @Jojo123

    I thought you were just hitting out at us like the usual NI thought police here, until I re-read your posts.

    That is always a good choice, since English is not my mother language and, though i speak them very well, my whole thought process is in Greek, so the way i express my self could be slightly different than most people from the West are use to, possibly more complex than necessary in its structure and might not be fully accurate (grammatically). I do my best though. :-)

    What I find really annoying is people assume its the consumers fault pretty much most of the time.

    I was actually talking about their devices (computers etc.) and, by long experience (i administer Windows on a semi-professional level, since 1998) i can tell you, yes it is. Most of the times because of lack of knowledge. They assume that everything is working "out of the box" but they forget that, every software is heavily depending on the operating system. If the system is just left to its luck and not setup and tune-up correctly, it will have problems, sooner or later.

    It is TOTALLY ON NI about the Google Drive debacle.

    No argument here. Yes it is, as i already mentioned few comments above!

    There are scads of people who cant download stuff because the quota has been exceeded or too many people have asked for a certain file, or in my case add to that "network problems".

    I never have such problems, since years ago, not just with NI but with any software. Also most people i know and also a possible 80% of our members here! So, again… wrong or incomplete devices settings most of the times. If the problem is persisted. If not, then yes, it is NI servers issues (and fault)!
    In your case, could be:

    • A very strict firewall (use medium or "recommended" settings, they are fine!),
    • Denial of cookies (always keep your functional cookies when you clean-up browser cache),
    • IP Address Conflicts (90% of the times it happens if you have a static IP address, or if you use a 3rd party Dynamic DNS Service),
    • Duplicate IP Addresses (when you have 2 devices and they attempt to share a single IP).

    …to say the most common. And as i wrote above, obviously sometimes are NI servers faults.
    But, you can not blame anyone with a 100% fault, either is a user either is a provider (simple wisdom from life experience). There is no such thing as an "100% one side fault". Never recorded such thing, in the entire human history. That's all I'm saying. :-)

    …ongoing back and forth with support for months which turned out to be the most frustrating and irritating experience ever because of this same issue…

    You have a very valid point here and i fully understand the frustration. NI Support needs a big improvement! They need to bring some people with developer knowledge and not just employees with a generic good knowledge who however, they just pass the requests to the developers team (because this is what is happening actually)… If there is someone to blame here is not NI employees or developers but the NI owners (click the spoiler!).

    In January 2021, it was reported that private investment firm, Francisco Partners acquired a majority stake in Native Instruments.

    In April 2022, Native instruments briefly became a subsidiary brand of Soundwide, a parent company created with the backing of Francisco Partners and EMH Partners.

    In January 2023, Soundwide laid off 8% of its workforce, citing "challenging market conditions" as the reason. In June of the same year, the Soundwide name was retired and substituted with Native Instruments' own branding, citing familiarity concerns as what lead to the change.

    Can you confirm or not if we need to "sign into Google" to get any downloads?

    I am not a NI employ but I am a long time Google user (since 2001) so, yes i can confirm that, not just to download but to do literally anything Google-related (apart seen youtube videos or read blogger sites), you must sign-in to your Google account!
    Please read this. ←——
