It makes a lot of sense because the MIDI 1.0 standard for the DIN connection from 1981 defines a speed of 31,25 kBit/s. Which is much slower (15360 times) than USB 2.0 with 480 Mbit/s.

I agree with everyone and for example when I work on Colabiration and I get stems from Logic Pro there's always some minor difference, usually in decimals. In case you described I didn't have but I was using Android apps and it's working great . G-Stomper have limited but Free version so you can try because there are many much more capable Apps like Cubasis or in case of IOS it's a paradise.
Small offsets won't make problem if it's used in a way to avoid playing Drums for both sides skipping the precise Grid (time) .

If you are only updating your M+ over the air, it is likely your firmware is still not up to date. Only the OS updates come via wifi, the firmware update requires connecting to a computer (the M+ firmware updater is a computer application)

no substantial change in midi behaviour for me with the firmware update, NI did get back to me and told me they were aware of the issues I mentioned and were working on them
