M+ & Jam combo: Step Sequencer isn't looping over 16-bar.. playhead just goes on indefinitely.
Hey all, like the titles suggest… when using the step sequencer, or the record mode on the Maschine Plus, instead of just recording what I play on the pads or enter-in the step sequencer (either in the Maschine Plus or the Maschine Jam), and then repeating what I've played as soon as the bar finishes, I.E looping over that bar allowing for either overdubbing or to play more steps that I've entered… the playhead just goes past that bar.. onto the next bar… then onto the next bar… then onto the next… indefinitely.
I've tried messing with Grow, doesn't seem to have any affect.
I do have a sp404mk2 attached via USB, however the MIDI-Sync is NOT set to receive because I notice I can't use the press/record button if I set that to receive — sucks (is there a workaround??? which is another question, I have a lot of devices… Roland TR-8s, Roland MC-707, Boss RC-505mk2, Akai MPC Keys 61 Pro, KORG Kaos Reply, and the Denon SC5000's and X1850… which that mixer goes to the Roland MX-1 (which is the brains of it all and sends timecode to everything…. BUT, the Roland SP404mk2 and the Maschine Plus and Jam because of that Midi Sync Receive issue thing).
Anyways, sorry for the tangent there, back to the main issue, can anyone help?

are you in ideas view or in the song view? If in the song view; do you have loop on?

Ok I figured it out… well, kinda.
When I disconnect the SP-404mk2 from the Maschine Plus it works… starts looping again.
However, what I want to do is be able to share the same BPM throughout all my instruments/devices— so I want to send my MidiClock from the Roland MX-1…. and ONLY the MidiClock to the Maschine Plus.
BUT…… when I connect the Midi 5-dinn cable from the MX-1 "out" to the Maschine Plus "in" and then change the Midi settings on the MX-1 to "receive" I am unable to get the play/record button to work.
I have the u6midi by CME, which I could use too… that's a Midi filter, router, and mapper — but for now I am keeping it simple (KISS) and literally just trying to send a MidiClock "out" to the Maschine Plus "in"
@darkwaves… any idea? or anyone else?0 -
Also it would be nice to know why disconnecting the SP-404mk2 fixes it… is there a setting I can pick that would correct that withy the two USB connected?

This doesn't make sense unless you're saying you can't get play/record on the roland to work.
Pick one device to be the master. If maschine is receiving midi clock, it's also going to wait for a start command. That's normal. You'll need to send midi out of maschine and IN to your roland if you want maschine to control the master clock. In that case, you'll need to hit start on maschine and not on the roland.
You may want to consider switching to ableton link instead of midi; but I don't think the sp404 does ableton link.
I struggle to think of a scenario where having the sp404 connected would cause the issue. Maschine is going to loop the current scene if you're in ideas view. Even if you have it set to receive clock; it wouldn't be able to keep playing. If you had it in song mode and didn't have loop on; your play head is going to keep going. If maschine is receiving clock from a device that sends song position; it might try to loop back when the device sending clock tells it to loop back. This could cause issues if you have maschine set to loop a section that's a different length.

Let me check.
Ok, so I plugged the SP-404mk2 back in via USB to the Maschine Plus.
Recording with repeat/loop still worked . and the button that says IDEAS/song was highlighted.
I stopped the recording.
So then I pressed "SHIFT" and then "IDEA/song"
That brought me back to the issue where I was recording and not looping.
Ok, so that is the issue — either being in IDEAS or SONG mode.
However, now I can't get back out of that mode or something…. I tried pressing and repressing the IDEAS/song button, as well as doing a "SHIFT" and IDEAS/song.
Any idea how I get out? and also where is the loop setting if I was in SONG mode?0 -
You can toggle looping in song mode by pressing shift + restart (loop). Press and hold shift+loop and you get a couple of options at the top.
If you're in either ideas view or song view, pressing the [IDEAS (Song)] button just places focus on on that view. Imagine you're in pad mode and press mixer. It just switches focus to the mixer. The [IDEAS] button does the same, but it's going to place you in the view you currently have active (either ideas or song). Press [IDEAS] once to enter the view. Now hold shift. Buttons 1 and 2 (above your left screen) will let you toggle between ideas view and song view.
If you're not already familiar with maschine; seriously consider learning it while using the software if possible. You don't need a very powerful computer or anything. Being able to see the software is going to make things make soooooo much more sense. I understand you may have bought it to use standalone; but seriously; it's so much easier when you can see what you're doing. IMO, that's going to make learning it (and troubleshooting) a lot easier.
For example; if you were doing this in the software, you would have seen the loop button was off. That would then push you to figure out "how to turn on loop from the hardware"

you may need to check your devices that it is using SPP/midiclock and ensure that is ticked…. as opposed to MTC(timecode), which can be the cause of the playhead to continue indefinately
