The oleophobic coating on all my iPads always wears out after 3-5 years of daily use. I use my iPads both with and without a case, that doesn't seem to affect it. I only use "screen clean" wipes and microfiber cloths to clean my screen, AFAIK that should be "halal"..?

Yes, absolutely better to wait, I've seen a patent submitted by Apple which outlined a "dual function" iPadOS which became more macOS-like as soon as a suitable keyboard was detected on the device.. if this was something they are planning on introducing, we might see something new in the next few years, until we know more, if you want to iPad, get the regular one called "iPad", or an Air at the most, no point in going for Pro IMHO. Not even sure I'm not going to regret splurging on it myself to be honest… 😅

Well, the new 'pad arrived. The new display is bonkers! Improved speaker sound also. Everything else will reveal itself in use over time.

Also, just learned that DaVinci Resolve is also available on iPad. Maybe my timing for the upgrade wasnt completely terrible. The new screen might make this a great tool for colorists

I have heard rumours that MacOS might come on M4 iPads. Maybe later on this year?

portability.. is definately handy, with ipads in general…

i've ventured out in the last year or so…. tapping into the m1Mac/ipad3air/Samsungs20 and PC(upgraded my graphics card on my old PC workhorse)….. im currently working with a Pair of Xreal Glasses and have been searching for practical solutions for integration of each OS,,, thereby having access to software all across the board

So far im getting best integration with the M1mac and being able to bring everything in a single desktop, all viewable with a pair of Xreal glasses!!

heres just a glimpse of the Xreals and a single scaled4K desktop(using a 4K dummy plug)…you can also have 2 extra 1080p virtual screens as extended screens as well

i need to do a proper video, showing the various integrations of each OS all at once with the m1macmini

We've heard this exact same rumour before every WWDC for the past 5 years. I wouldn't hold my breath. I'll happily eat my hat if it ever comes true tho!

The old ****** about how "MacOS wouldnt make sense on a touchscreen device" is starting to get real old now that the iPads semi-regularly feature keyboards and trackpads.. I mean, isn't that the exact same stuff one uses with a laptop?

Yeah; it used to be true maybe 6 years ago but not so much now, especially since in the last few versions lots of the MacOS UI looks already geared toward touch, some good examples are the Preferences (which everyone seems to hate), Control Center, the huge desktop widgets, Stage Manager, etc…

And that patent by Apple, already mentioned . And Mx chips in iPads Pro.

    EDIT:

    Test, if edit works.

on the ipad's i came across a application called infinite2xp

its a similar solution to what the Samsung's Dex offers….

infinite2xp im guessing is still in its infancy, becos at the moment you cannot integrate normal ios apps into it at present…. compare that with Samsung Dex… with alot more integration of apps as well as greater resolutions when connecting external monitors..

worth a download even if to see it in its infancy!
