Sudden dissapearence of Kontakt player and every instrument supported by it from Ableton
Hello everyone.
As I explain in the question box, the other day, after hours of composing using Ableton Live 11 and experiencing no problem at all, I turned off the computer to have dinner. One hour later, I switched it on to start again with the same session, and to my surprise, it said that some plugins were deactivated. Which were basically all of them, since the Kontakt player dissapeared from the Ableton list. The "reason" is, if I have to believe the message, that those plugins could not be found in VST2.
Please, can anybody help? Right now, this basically means all my music has dissapeared, since almost all of it is played via Kontakt player.

I am pretty sure Kontakt is VST3 only now. Did you by any chance update Kontakt? Because in that case, your VST2 version would have been overwritten by the Kontakt VST3 version.
When this happens, you will get the "missing plugin" notification when you open a project containing Kontakt in VST2, because the VST2 has been replaced by VST3 on your computer. Ableton can't find it anymore, and unfortunately Ableton doesn't update VST2's to VST3's in existing programs.
All you can do is add Kontakt to the tracks with missing plugins, and pray you remember the patch.

In case that you loaded Kontakt via Komplete Kontrol plugin and updated that then KK 3.xx comes only as VST3 :

Hello, Ed M. Thank you very much for the reply.
No, I haven´t updated Kontakt. It was a situation as strange as working the whole afternoon-evening in a song, then switching off the computer to have dinner, turning it on again like an hour later, and the whole mess happened with no interference on my own.
I am far from being a technology enthusiast, so I am afraid I would not know how to do what you suggest in the last paragraph. But it seems like Native is too big a company and Ableton too usually the DAW of choice to not have a standard solution for cases like mine.

If your problem is not the use and updating of KK then you can contact dedicated N.I. Kontakt Support .
After receiving email confirmation then please allow support up to a week to answer and if they do not respond within a week then politely update your ticket to let support know that you are still waiting for a response ! Also N.I. support do not work in the weekend !
Otherwise , I personally do not know enough about DAWs to assist you further but I can give you this collection of links for you to check !

Hello, and thank you too:)
No, I hadn´t loaded Kontakt via Komplete Kontrol, but after trying to follow both of your links´ instructions (downloading KK 2.9.6., and so on) I find that their steps don´t lead me to the places they suggest (for example, after downloading KK2.9.6., there is no Komplete Kontrol.exe file anywhere that I can copy and paste somewhere else)
I am starting to be seriously worried. Is there a chance that Ableton support staff could fix this?

Oh, I hadn´t seen this. Thank you so much. I think I will (patiently) resort to N.I. Kontakt Support.
Thanks again and I will tell you how this worked in a few days.

Similar issue. Ablelton Live 11. Only most of my libraries are gone!

Strange it happened today. I wonder if there's an update behind the scenes.

In Ableton 10 Kontakt and Kontakt7 are two different plugins and will likely be referring to two different Native Access versions.

Sorry to hear that. But on the good side, if more people are experiencing the same thing, it actually could be a good thing, because it will lead to a single solution to a single cause. Anyway, I got my ticket, so I will be able to share NI´s diagnosis.

Only reason for not posting this advice very much the last couple of days is because it appeared to me that it were an issue that N.I. had to fix , but here you go ! :
Resetting the Native Access XML file , look at section 8 here : My Product is Missing in Native Access
