hi

i watched the tutorial from DYVN here: https://www.native-instruments.com/de/products/komplete/play-series/soul-sessions/

and dyvn uses the "bird song 70s kit" , an expansion from soul sessions - its in my komplete 14 standard, it says.

though i cannot find it with the search bar. i am not sure, why he doesnt use the kontakt player, instead he launches the expension in battery. i didnt find it in battery as well.

do you have it?

thanks!

Open Komplete Kontrol , then do a search for Bird Song then choose Battery , it's a Battery Kit !

Soul Sessions is included even in Komplete 14 Select , but if ever in doubt about what content you have then just use the compare page !

Also to have access then of course the expansion must have been installed using Native Access !

Edit : look a post below by LostinFondation , correct expansion is Soul Magic which is only in Komplete 14 Ultimate or as a separate purchase ! (sorry about missing that)

It’s not part of Soul Sessions, but of Soul Magic, its companion Expansion (they have been realized in tandem).

Soul Sessions is a Play series instrument, and instruments don’t contain Groups for Maschine or Kits for Battery

Ooops , I didn't notice though I should have , I took for granted that information supplied were correct !

Thank you very much for you correcting my mistake !

@pet , sorry for not catching your mistake , then Soul Magic expansion is only available in KOMPLETE 14 ULTIMATE and Collectors Edition or if bought separately (€ 49) ?

I just didn’t want OP to continue asking himself why he wasn’t finding it

Yeah , but I actually located the files on my hard drive first , but since both names were "Soul" 'something' I actually really did miss it since I didn't register or pick up on the last part of name being different . A bit sloppy of me if you ask me , I will need to start double-checking information given.

Anyway , thank you very much for your both correct and very accurate contribution ! 🙂 👍️

This can happen, specially when for giving an answer you must research it.

My suggestion is to focus on questions you know the answer for. I know you are a moderator now, but it doesn’t mean you have to answer everything, even because it would be an hell of a task ☺️

With the good community we have here, surely someone with experience in the interested area will come to help OP

I just had a look at the video: It is actually made very clear in the video & the description which expansions he's using, and which sounds come from which expansion.

Not only does he explain that the Bird Song 70s kit comes from Soul Magic, it's also shown in the software on screen and with large text graphics. 😐️

If I had to watch every video for everything.... I simply neither have the time nor the inclination doing so unless necessary and since a clear reference were given then I found no reason to watch the video. Yes ! , hindsight is always 20/20 !

As far as I am concerned then it's part of the 'job description' to participate in the forum and help where I can.

Also , I doubt that very many users knew the exact answer to that one without doing any 'research' or watching videos , I could be wrong of course. And this is neither the first such question nor the last and I have seen such question be left unanswered.

However , it's very kind of you trying to relieve me of some 'workload' ! But trust me , I do skip a lot ! And besides then of course I am far from always around anyway. 🙂

@PoorFellow My point really was - you guys were posting trying to help the OP, but the info he needed was right there in the first place.

It seems a very common thing now for people to ask for help online for the tiniest thing, rather than (in this instance) pay attention to the video, or read a manual etc.

    🙄

In this case I HOPE many users knew the answer, otherwise it means a lot of NI users don’t know even the basics: being Soul Sessions an instrument, it can’t contain Kits or Groups by definition.

Sure, it can be not so obvious for an user brand new to NI ecosystem.

In any case, what matters is that OP got the answer 😉

Also this can happen. I’m not so disturbed by someone searching for a quick answer or making a mistake watching a video.

It can happen to all of us (specially if for learning something you watch a tons of videos. Some infos here and there can be unnoticed…or confused)

thanks! you clarified it to the point. of course the tutorial video shows the expansions used, didnt understand first, that he used 2 expansions. i just touched the surface of the video.

the NI ecosystem still feels nested & complicate to me. so i am going to buy the soul magic, as i only have komplete 14 standard. its a funny coincidence, that i thought "standard" has everything i need, as its so huge, though i am always missing the real interesting expansions and instruments from "ultimate", when i progress... just realized ... better invest the 599,- upgrade price (was even lower at august sale)

btw do you know any comparable ecosystems from other brands?

Yes !, buying a Komplete bundle or an upgrade for same will give you an amazing amount of content at a rather low price compared to the price of the individual components. And if there is a sale going on then one of course should take advantage of the great offers !

If you are referring to NKS ? then the forum's JesterMgee is running the Freelance Soundlabs (scroll down page) with news posted over in the NKS User Library . And Jester/Jason? sells these NKS libraries for other makes like if you e.g. bought something Arturia or IK Multimedia !

Quote Freelance Soundlabs page : Freelance Soundlabs professional NKS Libraries allow you to add full NKS support to VST plugins that do not offer official NKS support. These libraries are designed to follow the same standards as official libraries with some extra enhancements (such as more fully featured control templates):
