Komplete Kontrol MK3 49 Not functioning correctly!

SPECS:

Mac Studio M2 Chip

Sonoma 14.3.1

I can open Komplete Kontrol or Kontakt 7 as a standalone on my Mac and I can go ahead and use the hardware to select and go through the different banks, like Melted Vibes for example. Once I load the sound however, the keyboard doesn't function at all! Anyone else have this issue?

Strange... I reset the Mk3 to factory settings from the settings tab on the keyboard and it works now...

Sounds like it might be USB-C again.... Try using a USB-C hub in between the keyboard and your Mac Studio. You may need to supply additional power to the keyboard as well if your hub isn't powered.

It could also be a Sonoma bug - support for Sonoma is shipped for Kontakt 7, and coming soon for KK3 and KSMK3.

When you say it doesn't function at all, is it sending MIDI? What is displayed on the screen? What are your audio drivers set to? etc @SJRocks

Lets Say I open up Empire Breaks... I can load everything on the MK3 and rifle thru the presents and sounds and change the paramaters. But when I press on the keys it doesn't play anything. just silence. The little keyboard at the bottom of the standalone Kontakt screen doesn't show the keys getting pressed down. I can press the little keyboard in Kontakt with my mouse however and it shows the lights above my MK3 keys flash so signal is getting thru... I've had nothing but a nightmare with this keyboard and it's basically a giant paperweight that I spent almost 1000 dollars on.

I still have a question: are you plugged directly in to the USB-C port on your computer, or via a USB-C hub?

You may see random issues if doing the former, but not so if doing the latter.

Wondering if this was a MIDI 2.0 / 1.0 issue?

Either way, glad you got it sorted.

Best of luck on your musical journey.

Most likely one of those two issues, indeed.

@SJRocks If you're using KK or Kontakt make sure that the MK3 is enabled for MIDI input in the Options (Kontakt) or Preferences (KK) MIDI settings. It's not enabled by default. If it's not enabled you get the situation you're in - the browser works but you can't actually play anything.

Last time I was actually plugged directly into the Mac Studio.

If you were plugged in directly, try a USB-C hub instead and see if that resolves the issue.

This worked for me, too. Thanks for saving me from buying a USB-C hub.

I would still recommend doing so. The USB-C issue with certain computers is sporadic and random.
