it's possible to do that by duplicate a pattern and then record a new layering or top of it,

but you CAN'T use more that two patterns in same group, with each having different layering record.

example: use 2 patterns in same group with each pattern have is own layering

will very useful for melodic instruments like guitarS, piano, vocals,

we will gonna have more flexibility

    Thanks for this

    A. Tempo automation - Similar to Ableton where you have a tempo track and you can either draw in the changes, type a tempo in the name of the Scene so that tempo changes based on the value or automate it via the hardware knob

    B. Time Sig automation per scene - This can be done theoretically via slave mode but it doesnt translate very well and should be a native feature of Maschine software.

This: "There should be an option to hear the notes as you move events on the piano roll." and the options to

    a. move selected midi notes around with the arrow keys and

    b. use [Shift] + [arrow up] or [... down] to move selceted notes up or down by an octave

    c. use [Ctrl] + [arrow left/right] to lengthen/shorten selected notes in the respective direction

    d. use [Shift] + [arrow left/right] to move selected notes around by about 1/8th of a 16th note

would make life with that editor a LOT easier.

(from what I get only the [Alt] key can be used together with the arrow keys).

    More later ...

I'd love all suggestions above for the midi editor as I love maschine and don't want to use FL studio.

I have a weird suggestion that I think has never been done and would love to have : Wait and record.

If you ever played a piano learning software on practice mode, that would be similar : Imputs on the keyboard would be recorded in the midi editor, but would only move to the next note/bar once you released all the keys instead of having to play on tempo. Like playing on "pause"

This would allow for people who aren't experienced pianist to experiment and write melodies much more easily. I don't have a solution for the "empty" notes, but it would still be easier than trying to rearrange something played live poorly and manually organize and quantize everything.

Hi guys and thanks for enquiring the community about improvements for the Maschine DAW.

I have a controversial suggestion though. Given how spread across multiple areas NI is, and spending resources to get the Maschine DAW to Ableton level quickly would be very expensive, why doesn’t Native Instruments partners with Bitwig and offers a fully featured hardware device for an already fully featured DAW? How much resources are necessary to make both work seamless out of the box?

Since Bitwig doesn’t have any hardware devices, a partnership like this would strength both NI and Bitwig and make you way more competitive against Ableton and Akai.

Complete overhaul of the piano roll - make it workable and viewable (free resize of plugin GUI).

    • The zoom function should work horizontal as well as vertical and be easier to grab with a mouse
    • 1/2x and 2x pattern notes (half-time and double-time)
    • A toolbar with different note editing tools

I think taking a look at most competitors will give a pretty good idea for what is basically a standard or a minimum of midi editing functions in a piano roll nowadays. Honestly I've been avoiding midi-editing in Maschine, since it's super tedious and frustrating.

I for one, would hate for Bitwig to become part of the current NI.

Bitwig's development rate is impressive, unlike NI's slower than slothlike, often possibly wrong-footed messes.

Better integration between Maschine and Bitwig would be nice, but better integration between the hardware controller and any DAW would be, especially Reaper.

I am not suggesting Bitwig’s become part of NI. Bitwig should remain independent as a company. Just an official partnership with deep integration. I think everyone would walk away as a winner, specially the users.

Given how rudimentary Maschine DAW is, they could even create different price tiers (a similar Bitwig version of Maschine would be the cheapest tier), and charge extra for more features. I would pay, and yes I would pay for new version upgrades and for all I care all that upgrade money can go directly to bitwig’s development team

Or NI can just pay a usage license to Bitwig, change the layout/colors of Bitwig and adopt it as Maschine DAW.

NI should focus on what they are good at. Awesome VSTs, awesome keyboard controllers for those VSTs and awesome Maschine hardware with the best sampler there is, but damn it, just outsource the DAW development - it’s clearly not moving forward.

I don't know if this is the best place to share this ideas... I don't see any ideas about the mixer which I think it has a lot potential.

For example a dual monitor setup where the arranger/sequencer is on one monitor and the mixer in other (think Ableton).

No limit of plug ins on each channel. Be able to automate on full song not only in patterns

Be able to delete all the patterns that are not included in any scene by one click, or save the existing scenes on a new song.

Different shapes or predefined lines to automate

I mentioned this in another section - but I think having an app for iPad and android devices where you could extend the screen of the Maschine to the tablet would solve a lot of problems for editing - it would let you blow up the piano roll for instance and touch/manipulate it...so adjusting things inside the Maschine so the functionality is better there for standalone in addition to the ability to add a simple touchscreen interface I think would be great!

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but a simple way to return to the beginning of the piece (without it playing) would be great.

Per-step probability, parameter locks, and conditional triggers in an easy-to-use fashion would take thing up several notches!

independant sequence length for each sound, for polymeters, would be next on my list

Ok there’s one thing that maschine really really needs patterns change to clips and BACK AGAIN

PLEASE PLEASE CAN I HAVE THIS

Maschine is lovely I love it but once you have changed a pattern to clip there’s no going back

    WHY NOT ????

    -Polyrythm/polymeter per sound/pattern/step

-randomization types, Chance actions per step
