Any chance the Kontrol X1 MK1 will be M1 in the future or should I just throw it away?
Another frustration following my Macbook Pro upgrade. Can't get a smooth waveform and now my X1 MK1 looks like it's not supported.
Should I just throw this thing into trash and find something else to take it's place?
Started with all Traktor gear 10 years ago and this is my last piece. At this point, the software is the only thing holding me back from making the switch and that's buggy too. NI has fallen from the mountain.

don't know it exactly for Monterey, but there are a few workarounds for older macOS like Big Sure, Catalina and so on.
e.g. Install X1 driver (will fail) // Plug in X1 // Reboot // Check System Preferences>Security>General // Allow NI driver // Launch Traktor
https://www.reddit.com/r/NativeInstruments/comments/mh3dx6/traktor_kontrol_x1_mk1_and_big_sur/
or a small "hack" with the .kext file in your terminal maybe also works. you can find many entries on this topic by google

I found that first workaround on reddit but that didn't work. I'll do a search for the .kext file change. Thanks for that tip.

If you do find a workaround for the driver on the M1 you will need to import the default tsi also. I'll give a try on my M1 later.

Good to know. Thanks for the help.

I downgraded my mac to Monteray, everything works, and to be honest, i didnt need/use the majority of the features in the updates anyway.

You mean Monterey to Big Sur?

Not sure if any hack will work for M1. The driver would have to run in Rosetta 2 as it is x86 code and not M1 code.... And I doubt drivers are allowed to run under Rosetta. (It is just my guess, I am not on Apple.)

No sorry, mistype there.
i went back to mohave as that was the last time OSX supported 32 bit drivers etc.
Everything works on that, things like the xone 4D will not work on later installations as the OS will not load the 32bit driver.
Depends how much the features on the later OS appeal to you, to me, not so much, mohave is stable, everything works, and no issues with older installs or drivers

It is SAD that I have to throw away a device which is almost as new, just because NI decided not to provide a driver anymore. Come on, how hard can that be...

running mojave with Parallels?

It may be pretty hard. And X1 Mk1 is probably EOL. You do not have to throw it away, you may sell it.

It's always a shame to throw away perfectly good hardware, but I think you're pushing it by describing your X1 Mk 1 as "almost as new".
I reckon that controller was replaced by the mk 2 at least 9 years ago. .......there's a review below of the mk 2 from 2013

Sure it is old device... I said mine is almost as new because it is :) I use it rarely so there is no mark of usage what so ever...like from the box. And I have to "throw it way" now.

Native Instruments should be making new 64 bit drivers for their legacy hardware due to environmental concerns of users throwing out their hardware to landfill

I pointed this (taking action over legacy so more environmental friendly) directly to management board and it didn’t seem something NI cares (or let’s say prioritary).
The good news is DriverKit api arriving on iPad M1 means there’s already at macs M1 so it could be doable a driver update even it hasn’t been done for 64bits x86…
At the same time delivering a NI-box with the core internals of M+ and driver support for all the legacy hardware (the idea I proposed) could sell as hotcakes but will cannibalize some M+ sales so probably never going to happen neither…
