Maschine Mikro mk3 in Logic

Got a new Maschine Mk3 . everything seems to work fine except in midi mode.

I want to use it in Logic Pro 10.8.1. I load up a kit, all good, sound no problem, however when I switch to midi mode I get no sound.

Load machine on an inst channel as a plug in. On Maschine software change the Input to manual. Shift >target button left hand corner to change to midi mode. Play the pads no sound.

It records on the channel as seen on the screen shot inst 7.Just dont get any sound at all.

In Logic, do you also have the Maschine MK3 Virtual Input showing and ticked?

If not, open the Maschine software standalone appllication and make sure to tick this virtual input and output in the Maschine MIDI preferences.

'Sounds to MIDI Notes' - Means different notes on the same MIDI Channel will trigger the Maschine Pads, in this mode tou can't play any Pad chromatically (octaves of the same sound). C2=Pad1, C#=Pad2, D=Pad3, etc...
'Sounds to MIDI Channels' - Means different MIDI Channels will trigger each Pad, so each Pad can be played chromatically (because dif notes wont trigger dif pads, its controlled via Channel)

In option #1 you can have just 1 track in Logic with all your MIDI while with option #2 you will need a track per Pad.

But none of that is needed if you're using DrumKit mode.

You dont need to mess with "MIDI Batch Convert" or with Pad IO (setting it to Host), the whole point of DrumKit mode is to simplify things. You just turn DrumKit mode On, set the right Group on the Mikro and record away...

Based on your project, I am assuming you only want to trigger the Maschine Pads for samples (one-shots), with no instruments playing chromatically inside Maschine-Plug (playing different octave's as you put it). I also assume you want to record directly to Logic, otherwise whats the point of using MIDI Mode?

If I am assuming correctly then start over and do as said above; it doesn't matter where you made your Pattern. If I got it wrong then explain exactly what you want to do.

You are almost there. Your Source right now is set to "None" but must be Set to "Host" to receive data from the DAW

Changing this on the Group is for controlling Kits/Drum Groups

Changing this on the Sound is great for playing individual notes like for the synths/Keys.

Well, is the Mikro's MIDI Port enabled in Logic's preferences? Is the Logic Track set to receive MIDI from it?

What Controller Editor template do you have active?

You have to set your Group to "DrumKit" Mode (there are other ways but this is the easiest)

Then use Pad Page / "Group D" on the Mikro with the default Controller Editor MIDI Template, (the Group that has notes from C2 and up.)

Ussually tracks receive MIDI from all Ports by default, but it might be set to something else, check. Also click ALL and see if the Mikro Midi Port shows up as an option.

Well, you must... Otherwise how does the controller Know which notes to send? Just open the Controller Editor application and see, no tutorial needed... The app is pretty self explanatory once you open it.

Thank you for responding. I think I am getting close now. Midi is correct set to all. One problem

I ve seem to have lost the Host option when setting up the channels. So the pads only play Octaves of the same sound. See screen shot - Getting confused as to what gets loaded.

Second question. If i dont want to create a pattern using machine - instead the pattern is made on logic do I change the setting to " sounds to midi notes" I added a screen shot.

Select Drumkit here, now you should have the different sounds of the kit.

I still have to assign these pads to my controller correct? Iam doing this however the controller is only recognising sounds from c#2 pad. C2 pad no sound, not responding, must be some setting ive messed up. the rest of the pads are all fine except c2.

The idea is to records the pads as single drums shots straight onto logic no midi on machine, I might try midi later and compare.

Correct - this is what I am aiming to do. Play and record drums on logic with different tracks for each drum, as in a kit. Does this mean I still co-ordernate the drums pads / sounds to the controller editor? I have done this however 1st pad C2 pad will not load a sound it loads from 2nd pad C2 onwards. I have obviously entered someting incorrectly.

No problem. If you for some reason changed something about Pad-1 in Controller Editor just go to Templates, click EDIT>NEW and delete the template you edited to start over, for your use case the Default template works fine.

Thank you. I did this and started a new template. Somehow I just made it worse. The pads now control different screen settings and only c2 1st pad has a kick all the other pads shift screens around, Crazy. Do you assign sounds to Controller before you change Mikro mk3 to Midi mode Controller.

Han? You dont have to assign anything, Drumkit Mode expects specific notes and the default Controller Edit template is already configured to send those exact notes.

You must be in Pad Page D in Controller Editor, to go to that page you change the Group how it's described in the link I posted.

Thank you for the help. Its a case of to many YTube tutorials - ( the wrong ones ) - causing the confusion. I will work through this.

Lastly - How do I solve this problem? I have completed ( tried) everything on this link: ( I am not permitted to post links - its the help link on NI when the error message appears.

However, I still have this error when loading.
