I made a post, then later edited my post, then edited it again to make a word in the title plural, and the forum says it has to be approved?????

Sometimes posts hit spam traps and have to be approved by moderators. You'll probably find it gets approved and appears once people start waking up

You do not need to wait approval. Go in your Drafts, the post is there. Edit it again, find the "wrong" word that triggered the spam filter, replace it (or use asterisks for some letters) and click "Post". All done. :-)

Note: This forum has a really silly "text censorship" for common phrases that we all use (at least the majority of the human race). It is a kind of a very conservative (even Victorian) perception of "morality", that has no place in a free society. Even Facebook has a more elastic spam filter. This has to be change.

IMO there are plenty of words in the English language that can be used without resorting to things that may get censored (even if you think it's "common") so best not to go there.

This is an open forum. As such it's possible that young children read these messages.

I only made a word that was in the title plural by adding an 's' to the end of it.

And I still do not see my post in the list. It was a pretty complicated explanation that just disappeared.

I posted about this same issue (commented about it in my own tech issue thread).

I've been registered here for years, and I made a new post about a tech issue about 6 months ago. In the middle of replying to someone, after making 3-4 replies to a couple people, I got the "this message held for moderation" and it wouldnt let me post my comment for 3-4 days. I gave up and didnt come back. There was nothing even remotely close to triggering an "anti spam" filter -- a properly configured one, that is. No bad words, no links, no symbols. I could post anything else but that one comment, and it messed up the thread.

As you can see, we are not talking about insulting phrases or very offensive words, we are talking about every day expressions! But if you use those words above, you comment is held for moderation, unless you edit immediately and replace them!

Is it it just me? Or we live on a completely different planet after all? 😋

Just for context here, a new comment or thread can land on the moderation view for various reasons and not just because a word was blocked. We do have a pretty aggressive set of anti-spam practices because we had and still have to deal with hundreds of fake posts/threads. Without it, the community would turn into a hot mess and I personally rather a couple of false positive that you can report to help us tweak our settings than being more flexible and being flooded with spam everyday. If you remember the old forum, we literally had to delete hundreds of posts every morning manually because our anti-spam wasn't really great.

As for the list of keywords, we do have a list uploaded in our backend that was provided to us and that is used across different channels. The list has some obvious terms that nobody should read/post but it also has more common ones to prevent spam.

@Sunborn From experience and seeing the moderation tab for years, majority of the time these words are used is to be insulting.
