I'm thinking about buying a used Maschine Mikro MK3. Will the Maschine Mikro MK3 automatically work with my Maschine MK3 software or will I need to register the Mikro and get a software license that is connected to the Maschie Mikro MK3?

    It will work just fine.

There is no such thing as "Maschine MK3 software", it's the same software for all controllers.

As long as you have 1 Maschine license in your account you can use however many controller you want, even if the extra ones are not registered.

With that said it's a good ideia to still get the Mikro MK3 software transferred to your account because in case you want to sell it later it's worth more, but.. if you find a cheap Mikro without software/license it will still work because you already own a license for your bigger MK3.

PS: Note - regardless of licenses Maschine software does not support 2 controllers of the same type at the same time, if it detects 2 then one of them will turn to MIDI Mode, you can only use 2 controllers at the same time if one of them is for example a Jam (which is a different type).

    Well...not really sure.

    Maybe you should message PoorFellow.

Maybe he can solve the issue.

I think you will need the transfer license from the owner of the micro mk3.

You will need to register the hardware to your account. If the previous owner has already unregistered it, then the process is the same as buying it directly from NI. If they have not unregistered it, then you can submit a support ticket with NI, provide a photo of the hardware serial number on the Mikro and they should be able to get things sorted relatively quickly.

Oh, BTW because of a recent thread I checked at what prices used Mikros are going for nowadays on ebay, actual sold units not price asked by sellers, I saw one on ebay go for 40$, with no software... so theres some bargains out there in the used market.

So at least if you're on the US you can get one for cheaper than dinner for 2 in fast food joint, lol.

    Thanks for the heads up.

I could buy a used Mikro MK3 and maybe save myself... $70 or $80 or I could buy a new Mikro MK3 from Native Instruments for $200 and get $490.00 worth of free expansions????

I think I'm just going to buy a new Mikro MK3 from Native Instruments and get the $490.00 worth of free expansions. Now I have to see if there's 10 expansions available that I don't already have. LOL
