[FIXED BY LOGIC 10.8.1] MIDI note doubling issue with Komplete Kontrol 3.0.3 and Logic Pro 10.8

@Matt_NI that sort of stuff is exactly why EOL move for MK1 keyboard just 5 years after you stopped selling them isn’t a good idea.
Things can get broken much faster and easier than one might expect so please if similar issues arise in main Daws over the next year or 2, do consider continuing support on the 2.9.6/7/8/9a/9b etc versions for MK1 users. (I own the 3 series but that won’t even show in your stats of what’s being used…)

OK, so the (hopefully short term) fix for this at the moment (thanks Richard Herczeg for our worky outy stuff today), is to go into the Environment window of Logic (command + 8) ...select the Ports layer and delete the cable that goes between the "Input Object" Sum out --> and "Sequencer Input" object.
Then manually route your controller/controllers keyboard pin out to the "Sequencer Input". (in the example below, an NI M32)
..and at work I have many other controller inputs, but this has been effective in eliminating the duplication of notes in record.

Awesome, thanks great sleuthing

Ah, great workaround! Thank you to those involved!
I was looking for the environment window in Command 8, however, it's set to Command 0 on my machine. Just a heads up for those looking for it and not seeing anything but the audio events screen!
Also, the environment window displays meters by default, just pop over to the top left and change the layer to clicks and ports as shown above.

Picked up from VI-Control Forum speculation.

Thanks @mattrixx this works for me - but takes away the recording of any Midi generated notes for the moment !!! so we await eagerly NI sorting out a full solution - after all now they have fixed Kontakt 7.7 they have nothing else to do 😀

Mmm, that shouldn't be the case.

Does appear to be - I'lll do some more checking tomorrow - bedtime soon!! Also, the "solution" is on a project by project basis it seems. I made the change on one project. I then opened another older project and found the change was not carried over. Is that to be expected?

Just checked again and making the changes in the Environment window does stop the duplicate note writing but also stops Play Assist (and other Midi stuff) from writing additional notes. In addition, if anyone uses another midi controller (such as I do - MonogramCC) that needs to be cabled in otherwise the midi messages from sliders for example will not register. So its a bit klu=dgy and really needs NI to get this sorted asap - which I'm sure they will.

Indeed ^^^

This is a fantastic fix. Thank you! I wound up rerouting 3 controllers that I use so now everything works as expected I also learned how import Environment layers from one project to another which will make setup in other projects quick.

Please fix this in both KK 2.8 and 3.0. I cannot update to 3.0 and your (last minute) decision to cut support for 2.8 is now becoming a MAJOR MAJOR issue.
Unfortunately, my studio, school, and DJ business is now researching other options and is planning on moving away from NI next year. We can't have these issues crop up over and over again. Please take responsibility for your products!

Yes, the Environment settings are project to project, they are not a global setting for Logic.
Make it part of your template if required.

The decision was not last minute - it was made quite some time ago. We could not announce it sooner.
We've also patched KK 2.9 twice since announcing EOL, and will probably do so again for this proximally emergent issue.

will probably do so again for this proximally emergent issue.
Good I was expecting that would be the case
This is a perfect example though of how unexpected things could just as easily break 2.9 in future, so why not just keep it maintained on a basic level at least to maintain backwards compatibility, like with the controller editor?
