Got a Maschine+ today, I owned a Maschine MK3 years ago but didn’t hang on to it. I was hoping to use the Maschine DAW for everything because I love the NKS integration and visual plugin picker. I didn’t realize Maschine doesn’t have plugin delay compensation. That’s a really major problem that makes Maschine as software unusable for many basic aspects of music production.
My music requires tight timing sync and is heavily groove-based. Realizing this, I don’t think I’m comfortable doing any mixing at all from Maschine but will have to instead use it as a VST hosting only instruments and route audio out to a DAW for mixing, where I will lose access to Maschine’s excellent plugin browsing and control integration.
I would try using Komplete Kontrol on a host DAW’s audio tracks so I can still use the Maschine like I want to, but of course Maschine hardware doesn’t work with that. Not really interested in having to spend $1,000 on a keyboard to get reliable NKS browsing and control over my effects. I don’t have the space for another keyboard and the Light Guide isn’t flexible enough to do what I want it to do I’d be paying just to get the screen and knobs my Maschine hardware already have.
Most of the common feature requests I see for Maschine software are missing features that are standard in DAWs, but plugin delay compensation rises above that. This is a necessary requirement for any audio application you mix in.
Hope this is the top priority for development. It’s even more critical than recording MIDI automation and aftertouch.
If they won’t add plugin delay compensation they should at least make Maschine in MIDI mode work with the Komplete Kontrol VST even if it means they sell one or two less keyboards. The workarounds I have seen are not acceptable solutions. I am not going to bounce all my MIDI to audio and try to manually align them with delay. I work very hard on my MIDI and constantly revise it while making beats.
