Is Traktor dead?

Im a long time user of Traktor, but i see the software in a place with no updates when the others are running fast.

Serato released version 5 (now on Beta) with a lot of good updates. Djay Pro is on a good spot with their software, but i see traktor doing nothing for the community.

Basic stuff like HID mode for Phase, are done on every software, but on Traktor we have nothing, and the Phase Team already said: this ball is with Native Instruments.

I Like Traktor, but this is making me look to another solution. Not even the roadmap we have anymore.

I have all the gear for Traktor, but im thinking if i remain with NI or go to Serato/Djay.

The Traktor team has loong been underfundet. Bugs been ignore and features only half implemented (for examples stems) Now with the takeover you can watch a video of the new inMusic CEO(?) talk about a bright future and how he wants to invest. Buuuuut, that is all just talk for now.

Could be that they can hire more people, and deliver on old promises like light theme, OneLibrary and Phase HID. But realistically? How long does it take to hire and train new folks in an old ass codebase like this?

I don't see any job openings at all on LinkedIn. And the "Join us" link on the website is dead. So .. yeah.

I would not expect much in the next few month. If you need specific feature NOW maybe switch? If you are satisfied with current hardware and software just keep using it until it's no fun any more?

Yep, they definitely have a lot of catching up to do.

The major competitors now all have on-the-fly stem separation, automatic fluid grid analysis and multiple streaming music providers.

I am not a Traktor user and have no skin in this game - but one look at that InMusic Job board should tell you all you need to know about Ni futures (at least as of now):

NI is not even mentioned as a brand or in any of the job postings…so it is highly unlikely that any of these openings have anything to do with restocking the shelves for NI product…

Or maybe it is simply too soon after the merger to know what direction they are going in

I would have thought at least NI would have been listed amongst the "brands" by now but it is what it is….

Yep - I get it.

But in the context with all the other much smaller players listed - and the size of this acquistion - you would think that NI would at least get a mention…

And I also understand that it may be a page "footer" that hasn't been updated - but first impressions matter - lazy web admin or not…

I don't know where you found that "About" text, but if you start from the main inMusic site, Native Instruments is very prominently featured.

And then clicked on any gig listed - and then scroll to the bottom.

Nobody here has those flux capacitors :)

Future will tell. Given that AI does wonders in programming, it is just a matter of time that merging with In Music takes.

And ultimately, all DJ software will have all the same features.

There is very likely to be text in all manner of places that is yet to be, or in the process of being updated.

I would encourage everyone to avoid jumping to anything overly conspiratorial.

Nor is Traktor dead; there are software and hardware releases coming.

@Matthew_NI : If Traktor isn't dead, why can't you manage to fix bugs that were reported—and acknowledged by you—more than 3!! (yes, three) years ago?
