Its too complicated to start

I have MASCHINE MK3 PAD for 2 years, my only music instrument I have as a gift
I chatgpt how to use it
I download native access
I downloaded MASCHINE 3
I open it
I just want to try it
There are no sounds. I can't just try
Too many small buttons
OK I download Acoustic Drum Kit in native access
It installs for ages
I don't understand if its installs or it's dead
I restart windows
It installs again for ages, this time I wait. It doesnt show progress bar
I open MASCHINE 3
It still do not produce any sound
Interface is 0 lvl intuitive
I buy komplete kit for 0 EUR on website. Why it isn't inside native access?
I login, I fill inn all forms for 0 EUR purchase.
Nothing appears in MACHISNE 3
Chat says I need to asign every pad button with single sounds from drum kit
Then I understand I have problem with WASAPI/ASIO
Everything is correct but there is no sounds coming from my laptop
I close everything. Angry

Why can't it just be easier for someone who never used these instruments before? It's just too complex for easy beginning

Some things take time but in this world of chatbots and AI, people seem to think you can just powderpuff things into existence. Imagine learning a REAL instrument and giving up after the first day saying it's too hard. Enjoy the learning process and the fact for every minute you spend learning a new skill, is one less minute you are on your phone or relying on AI to feed you answers…

Why not learn it the old fashioned way - by doing it?

Learning anything is hard.

But relying on Ai to do anything meaningful whatsoever is simply time you will never get back.

Did you setup the Maschine 3 software after installing it ?

Alas then the new shop interface appear as focused on selling things and have no links for any help how to use , but the advoe videos ought to be of at least some help.

IMHO Maschine hardware does have a steep learning curve. After having a similar experience as the OP with the Maschine, I focused a few days over a vacation to tgo through one of the NI sponsored tutorials. I was still having trouble, so I boxed up the Maschine and gave up.

After maybe 8 months I had an idea to try a function on the Maschine, so I unboxed it and gave it another try. For some reason, it then seemed easy to use, intuitive, and very productive. I had such a great time with it, I upgraded to a Maschine+, and haven’t looked back. If I had to strip down my gear to the bare minimum, it would be a guitar and a Maschine+.

The most valuable investment you put into a piece of gear or software is the time you spend learning to use it well enough for the tool to become transparent in your workflow. It takes a while to get there with Maschine, but it is worth it IMHO.

Using trackers within a DOS environment and trying to setup MIDI inputs via DIN hardware and add-on cards is a learning curve especially if you have to mess around with IRQ/DMA addresses to avoid conflicts. And don't forget to load extended memory… Products like Maschine not only are pretty easy and intuitive in comparison to many hardware workflows of the past, but (usually) quite fun and enjoyable to figure things out.

The problem I would say is how people have grown up in this 'modern' world having expectations that things like learning music, production, hardware and software all in a single seat is quick and easy. It's why people resort to AI because many seem to find if I can't figure it out in a day it's too hard. I (like many of my day) spent literally MONTHS learning how a tracker worked, what sample/bitrates were, how to feed audio into a PC and record it having zero clue but an interest to know more. This was before the Internet could even offer answers and it took a good 30 odd terrible projects over the course of my first year before I had something I considered half decent.

I kind of think that was the key to learning this kind of stuff AND having fun. No access to tutorials or even a help guide, you had no choice but to just sit, try something, learn what happens, analyse demo tracks on how they worked and teaching yourself. It's what sets apart the older school of pioneers from the prompt jockeys of today…
