Maschine mk3/+ modded step sequencer and grid editor

I did it again. After first mikro mod I just want to try how far I can go and I create alternative view for Maschine MK3/+ - new step sequencer with step grid editor.
SHIFT + STEPS to turn it on.

On left screen we can see one bar of pattern, on the right one we can see the whole pattern.

8th knob changes length of the pattern.
4 buttons above right screen shows with SHIFT: GRID, CREATE, DUPLICATE, DOUBLE

Without shift the 8 buttons above screens are working like step sequencer for current active pad/keyboard/slice.

< > buttons are changing the 8 steps scope and bars.

Click JOG to enter jog edit mode, move with jog, click to create step or remove it.
If You're on some step, You can hold SHIFT and move JOG left or right to move step.

You can also edit all steps of active pad by holding the pad.

You can hold the step by jog or by one of the 8 buttons above to enter edit step mode. Four first knobs are: VEL, KEY, POSITION, LENGTH.

What You guys think? I have to put some work on it, polish it out but I think it would be great addition to maschine workflow.

Yeah… I just saw it and came here to see if you made a post also about this (and hoping to find link for it).

That’s really well implemented… you even kept NI’s screens philosophy (one screen for zoomed in detailed view, the other to see the whole thing).

no menu jumping to switch between sounds! nice!

i take it you shift between the 8th and 9th sequence points to give you quick input? its makes sense!

And… since you seem so good in these type of things… if you need suggestions, I have a couple of things that probably are between some of the most requested that NI never implemented. At least one has already been partially addressed by @D-One and others with some type of patchers (that I don’t even know if still work nowadays with newer Os and in Maschine 3 after they changed some stuff in 3.something): focus implementation on Maschine (meaning that Maschine always switches focus on what is controlled at the moment). D-One patch (only available for Mac) allowed Maschine Jam users to change patterns on the Jam without having Maschine also change its focus (something that NI should have made possible from a looooong time).

The other (in some way related and maybe even more important) would be allowing owners of multiple Maschines to use them together (and also to control different stuff, especially in case of combinations like Maschine/Kontrol Keyboard or Maschine/Jam). This one I must admit that I don’t even know if is possible to achieve. At the moment if you have 2 Maschines (say like you now, with MK3 and Mikro) you are not even able to use them both together, unless one of the 2 is in Midi mode.

Imagine being able to do stuff like having one Maschine controlling one group and the other (or a Kontrol Keyboard) controlling another. Or having one Maschine controlling a group and the other (maybe your new Mikro) to switch Patterns/Scenes/Locks (especially Patterns, since they aren’t midi mappable… another NI decision that puzzles me since years).

Maybe it could be a stimulating challenge for someone skilled like you 😉

So another thing, audio tracks in arranger view. Under the hood is just a regular clip with one audio sample. You can move them on arranger timeline freely choosing the arranger grid. New audio track is just a group with a loop sample so You can add effects to it, mute or solo from controller or software.
It's just a simple waveform visual representation. It was a little tricky to match waveform with a scene tempo feature but it's working :)

I'm working also on events mute/solo - mute and solo screens will have on button 2 EVENTS button that turn on it will mute not sound directly but it will allows to play out the sound to the end but ignore next events.

Final mod will add cursor to EVENTS screen that will allows freely move up and down, left and right and add notes to the grid. It will be accessible by pressing third top button.

And that will be if for now, I will wrap it up, make an installer for osx and windows.

Man… you are practically giving Maschine users what they asked for since AGES and NI always pretended not to ear!

Now we just have to hope that NI will not make Maschine not usable for us anymore in some ways (not allowing for authentication or some other shady moves…)…😶

Step Grid

Build patterns in a 16-step view while the pads keep playing sounds. Add steps with the eight screen buttons, hold a step or pad to edit velocity, key, position and length, and see the whole pattern on the right screen.
Sampler Channel
MASCHINE software · MK3 · MASCHINE+ · STUDIO

Choose Stereo, Mono (L+R), Left or Right next to Polyphony in the Sampler’s Voice Settings. Stereo-to-mono uses an averaged mix; mono samples keep the Mono option. Channel changes use a smooth transition.
Attack / Decay

Shape the sample envelope directly in Sampling → Edit → Play Range. Knobs 3 and 4 control Attack and Decay, with envelope lines on the waveform. Drag the A and D handles in the software; the two phases stop at each other.
EVENTS Cursor

Move a cursor through the EVENTS grid with the 4D jog. Click an empty cell to add a note or an existing note to remove it. Hold and turn to change length; SHIFT with horizontal movement changes position. CURSOR switches off when you leave EVENTS.
Event Mute / Solo
MK3 · MASCHINE+ · STUDIO

Mute upcoming events while playing sounds and effects keep their tails. Enable EVENTS on the MUTE or SOLO screen, then use pads and group buttons. Pad solo stays within the current group.
Live Slice
MIKRO MK3

Slice a playing sample with the pads, audition existing slices and adjust their start positions with the main knob. Apply the slices to the current Sound directly from the Mikro, with up to 128 slices across pad banks.
Arranger Audio
MASCHINE software · Song view

Add mono or stereo audio tracks to the arranger and drop in audio from Finder or the MASCHINE browser. See the waveform and move the region along the song timeline. The current version supports one audio file per track.

@vubeatz Another (unrequested ☺️) suggestion: create also download links for the single features, in case someone wants to install only one (or some) but not all of them.

It came to mind just after downloading the pack (which, in my case, I find very convenient, since I want all the features) and I was about to delete the one I already had for just Mikro MK3 live slicer, to then decide “Do you know what? I’m gonna keep it, in case I will need it for just this feature”
