Kontrol S88 MK3 not detected by firmware updater on MacBook Pro after factory reset

Description:My Kontrol S88 MK3 is stuck on the serial number screen after a factory reset. I reset it because it wasn't being recognized in any native platforms and updater and in my daw, Logic Pro. No sound plays when I press a note. I registered the serial and installed Hardware Connection Service. On my MacBook Pro, the firmware updater says “connect the controller and rescan” even when the keyboard is connected. I tested direct connection, different USB-C ports, a powered USB-C hub, and USB-C power to the Power Only port. Please help restore detection and complete the firmware update.

After the recent NI server dispositions then we have more or less zero to do with. Manual account downloads are not available for the time being so there is no download of previous versions of anything from there.

Other than that then you need to divide things into separate issues .

As far as I know then software wise then the firmware updater solely relies on the driver for device being correctly installed together with the connection being setup properly (cable, hub , power , whatever) , on PC then the drivers are installed when installing the Hardware Connection Service , but as far as I remember then on Mac the device is Class compliant and do not need a separate driver. I don't know exactly how drivers works in Mac but you should try to either reset device in Mac or remove and then re-add driver. Maybe it's Plist thing (dunno).

After that you have fixed the firmware updating and installed a Hardware Connection Service that fits the firmware then probably best to set the keyboard to Midi 1 and then reset the keyboard in Mac Midi Studio.
