Timecode Setup Issue – Traktor Pro 3 with Mac M3 and DJM-900NXS2

Hello Native Instruments Support,

I need some assistance with setting up Timecode (DVS) in Traktor Pro 3.

My setup is:

• MacBook Pro with Apple M3
• Traktor Pro 3
• Pioneer DJM-900NXS2
• Timecode Control Vinyl

I'm trying to use the DJM-900NXS2 as the audio interface for DVS, but I'm having trouble getting the timecode signal to work correctly.

Could you please provide the recommended setup for this configuration? Specifically, I'd like to know:

• Is Traktor Pro 3 fully compatible with Apple Silicon (M3) for DVS using the DJM-900NXS2?
• What are the correct Audio Setup, Input Routing, and Output Routing settings?
• Are there any additional macOS permissions or settings required (such as microphone access)?
• Is there anything specific I should configure in the DJM-900NXS2 Settings Utility?
• Are there any known compatibility issues or limitations with this setup?

If possible, could you also share the latest setup guide or any documentation specific to this configuration?

Traktor Pro 3 was last supported on macOS 14 Sonoma offically. Compatibility with Apple M3 was first stated for Traktor Pro 4.1.0. Therefore I suggest an upgrade on Traktor Pro 4. Native Instruments supports macOS 26 Tahoe first with Traktor Pro 4.4.1.

Most likely Traktor Pro 3 in its latest version will work without major issues but there will be no official support with your setup. Therefore I would answer your first question with a No.

Audio Setup:

Select your DJM as Audio Interface.

Output Routing:

Mode → External, Assign your outputs to the decks as desired. Some like Deck A and B in the middle (and C left and D on the right) other prefer deck A, B, C, D from left to right on the channel strips.

Input Routing:

Assign the mixer inputs with your turntables to the decks you want to control with DVS/Traktor Scratch.

Permissions:

Traktor Pro needs access to microphones in macOS to work with DVS.

DJM settings utility:

Don't own a Pioneer mixer. But according to the DJM manual you have to set the channels you want to use with DVS to CHx Control Tone Phono if you use Turntables. If you have players with line output you have to choose CHx Control Tone Line on these channels. x is a placeholder for the channel number.

Compatibility:

As written Traktor Pro 3 is not supported on newer versions of macOS anymore. If it works it works, if not there will be no support by NI. If it breaks with any macOS version there will be no fix for Traktor Pro 3. Most likely it will still work.

Setup guide:

I don't know a specific one for your setup - especially no official one. If there are any issues make sure your DJM is connected directly to your MacBook without hubs, docking stations or USB-A-to-C-adpaters. At least try it with a direct connection to rule issues with your hub/dock out. Trying a different cable sometimes helps too.
