Traktor Remix Decks vs other inMusic ecosystems: What are the real alternatives

Hi everyone,

With the recent market shifts and Native Instruments merging into the inMusic family (joining brands like Denon DJ, RANE, and Akai Professional), I'm evaluating how my workflow might evolve and what options exist across other hardware in the ecosystem.

In Traktor, I rely heavily on a Kontrol F1 to drive Remix Decks. For my performance style, this is crucial for layering BPM-synced percussion loops and acapellas, while tweaking individual channel volumes and filters on the fly via dedicated physical faders.

I was wondering: what is currently the true equivalent of Remix Decks across other brands in the inMusic family? I’d love to hear from anyone who transitioned from Traktor to other inMusic platforms without sacrificing fader-driven live remixing.

Denon DJ, Rane and Numark standalone systems use EngineOS - which does have a sampler (unique for a standalone DJ system) but it's very basic. No looping, no syncing.

The advantage is that they have Ableton Link onboard, which opens up a whole world of possibilities. There are nearly 300 soft/hardware Link enabled products. I specifically bought a Maschine+ because it could be synced to my Denon DJ Prime 4. Akai MPCs also have Link.

On the DJ software front, VirtualDJ has a pretty versatile sampler. Up to 64 samples per bank. Unlimited banks. Multiple bank types i.e. StemSwap does what it says (swaps any stem on the track for a sampled loop) and "per song" banks which load with an associated song. FX can be applied to individual stems.

If you need “playhead control” (or DVS control) over those loops… nothing is like Remix decks.

If you just need to sync loops to your dj gear, Link is the key as @PK The DJ stated.

The nearest approach to playhead controlled loops (so scratchable) could be any dj app with realtime stems and build your own loops inside stems. Then activate loop on these and use jump to change like ”remix deck file” launch and also could be applied to “rows”. AFAIK the only capable of jump inside stems keeping one loop in one of them and other loop in another is virtualdj but take it as “grain of salt” since I’m talking by memory.
