I’d love to see a “Refresh Metadata from Files” or updated Consistency check option in Traktor.
Many DJs manage their libraries with external tools such as Mp3tag, Apple Music, musicbrainz Picard, MusicBee, Jaikoz, foobar or others. While the metadata is correctly written to the files, Traktor only refreshes some fields, while others appear to be read only on first import or managed exclusively in collection.nml.
This means there is currently no safe way to update metadata (except manually updating everything within traktor) without risking the loss of valuable collection data or reimporting tracks.
A Refresh Metadata function could re-read selected tags from the files while preserving all Traktor-specific information, including:
- Beatgrids
- Cue points
- Loops
- Play counts
- Analysis
- Stems references
This would make Traktor much more interoperable with external library management tools and improve workflows for DJs.
I think this would be a valuable quality of life improvement for many users. Updating tags via consistency check was something that used to work consistently till Traktor Pro 4.
