Hi Guys, Please can you kindly tell me how to record a dj set ? It maybe a very silly question but I'm new Please can you have a look at the picures? Thanks
.
You set the DJM to send recording back to channel 5/6 ✅
In input you routed 5/6 to both B and D ✅, you probably want to router 3/4 to B, but it's still fine.
All you need to do is go to settings → mix records → source: external AND external input: Deck D
That is it :)

Thank you so much for taking time to reply but still not working onlyi can hear in the recording is noise How you would set it up from the pictures i sent ?
on your second picture from last post for input deck d you have to set to 5/6 or Rec as input as far as i know, then it should work
unfortunately it does not
You have to use the input for recording under the recording setting (external)(deck C or D for example) where you route 5/6 / rec from the mixer to. Maybe you have not set it that way while trying to fix it?
i did try both of them
but 5. 6. it's the deck in traktor
while on pioneer it's rec
Strange I don't own this mixer, but if I try to set 1/2 in my case to deck D and set deck D as input for recording I can record the signal coming through 1/2 of my interface. Maybe the mixer does not output anything through 5/6 normally you should see the meter moving on the deck input settings page if you have a signal running.
Sorry guys, if I'm wrong and just throwing in a wild goose chase. But if he's only hearing noise, maybe he means the timecode? I saw in one of the photos that it's in external mode. I haven't done this very often, but when I have, I've always tapped the signal from the master output on the mixer. That way, all the external effects are included with no noize from the timecodes, etc. I then loop the master signal into a free input using a standard RCA cable. On this mixer, that would be, for example, the Aux channel. After that i only have to rout it correctly for the internal recorder in Traktor.
his inputs on the mixer are set to line, they should be set to USB/computer, so time code goes through the mixer into traktor and the ttaktor decks back into the channels (set to USB as mentioned) then back to the PC via the rec channel for recording - I guess that's the issue, but your post was the reason I thought about that, I also guess you can do it the way you describe but that shouldn't be necessary
Yes, it's quite possible that it works without my alternative method. I've always done it that way because it was consistent for me, regardless of which mixer I was using. At best, I had a dedicated record output available on the mixer. The DJM-450 doesn't seem to have that, though.
So, in this user's original post, the channels in the control panel (Pioneer setup utility) are set to timecode phono. I'll stick with this scenario for now to avoid unnecessary confusion.
USB channels 1-4 are thus completely occupied by the timecode signal. For Traktor to understand its scratches and movements, the sound card has to send the raw beeps from the needle to the computer. Therefore, you can't simultaneously access the finished audio for recording via these channels. The user should also be aware that USB 1/2 are intended for deck A and 2/3 for deck B, which seems to be incorrectly configured in his screenshots of the input and output routing in Traktor.
USB 5/6 would then be intended for recording, as has already been correctly noted in your posts, and this should also be configured accordingly in the Pioneer setup utility.
To receive this signal correctly in Traktor, channels 5/6 should be selected in the input routing for Deck C. I would leave Deck D blank. Similarly, Decks C and D should also be left blank in the output routing. I'm not entirely sure whether you should then set the Deck C in Traktor to internal or live...? Otherwise, Traktor will probably constantly try to calibrate when it's activated as a scratch deck.
Then, in the Traktor Mix Recorder settings, select "External" and assign Deck C.
Important: On the mixer, set the deck input to the computer symbol (USB). This also appears to be incorrect in the screenshots, as you mentioned before.
All of this is, of course, without guarantee. I would first need to test it myself on a DJM-450. I might have a little time tomorrow to try it on a DJM-S11 this way.
Edit: As a side note. The channels in Traktor are sometimes shifted one number backwards on Pioneer mixers. Channels 1/2 would then be channels 0/1 in Traktor, and so on.
Your settings looks to be correct.
And even though you are playing something, traktor is not receiving anything. 🤔
But it does see the timecode, so it's not Mac OS Microphone permissions.
I'm out of ideas.
thanks for reply
everything sounds good
and the noise im talking about it is in the recordings
timecode is perfect
But as said, if you have set the mixer inputs not to USB, you will have the time code going through the mixer and to the master out, the settings would be correct if you play a normal vinyl in between. And I now see in one picture you have set the mixers interface to route control tone line and on another picture to control tone phono, so if you use vinyl in the phono input you have to use of course control tone phono. And on the mixer itself USB inputs on wach channel, cause you want to mix externally the signals from the two traktor decks. So maybe go through the settings systematically.
