I bought my Maschine MK3 when it first came out, and for years I couldn't solve the infamous "ghost knobs" issue... random parameter changes, settings moving on their own, and occasionally pads lighting up for no apparent reason.
Online, and even here, a lot of people suggest checking your USB cables, power supply, or the computer's USB ports. That may well be the cause for some users, but it definitely wasn't the case for me.
I noticed that Maschine works perfectly fine in standalone mode. However, as soon as I use it inside Logic, the paranormal activity comes back.
In my setup, I had created a custom template in Controller Editor and configured my MK3 as a Mackie Control device for Logic. The problem is that at some point Native Instruments released a firmware update that made communication between Logic and the MK3 native. So now I had both the Native Instruments integration and my old custom Mackie Control setup active at the same time.
That was the entire problem.
Basically, Logic was receiving commands from two different control surfaces, which created all sorts of weird behaviour.
I removed the custom Mackie Control device, kept only the standard MK3 integration in Logic, and... who you gonna call? Ghostbusters! My MK3 has finally stopped changing my mix volumes whenever it feels like it.
So after buying all those USB cables for absolutely no reason, can I get some reimbursement now?
Haha.
$1 million should cover it. I'll send the invoice.
