"No software found to install" when using .iso NI archives

Hi all...

I was recently obliged to buy a new refurbished macbook and it was delivered today with Tahoe installed on it (even if it's quite an old machine : it's a M1 pro macbookpro).

I was a bit scared but everything seems to run fine so far. My only issue is with Native Instruments .iso files I archived some time ago in order to not being obliged to re-download everything via Native Access (and also be able to install old versions that work with Kontakt 6) : when I try to install the .iso files, my machine tells me it's not possible because it doesn't find any app to install !!??

The error message in English is « The installer could not install the software because there was no software found to install ».

Everything runs fine using Native Access so far (I installed pretty much half of what I own without any issue), so don't think it's about NA.
The iso files are on an external drive, but I try to install them on my system drive.

I did that recently on a M1 pro running Sonoma so I know my files are not corrupted.

Is it a Tahoe limitation ?
Is there a way to fix it ?

@Calagan A few months ago we had to migrate all our products to a new installer technology, thanks to changes made by Apple on their latest operating systems, including Tahoe. Your old iso files are just not supported on Tahoe. You'll need to download and install them from Native Access again.

You sure those ISOs are not Windows based ISOs?

Not a Mac guy but that could be why no software can be found…

Probably your issue is the same as this issue. There might be a workaround (mentioned by Jeremy_NI) , but basically then to get things to work with Tahoe then N.I. had to make a new installer tech to do the job , so at least for some products then you should not expect this old installers to ever get to work on Tahoe without using a work around…

It’s an installer problem. As far as I’m aware, NI is slowly updating installers for old first and third party libraries available within Native Access which have this Tahoe incompatibility problem.

For those libraries which are not yet updated - they might be able to provide working installers via Support.

But I'm afraid it's still a mess
I tried to download the latest installers directly from my personal NI account and it's still impossible to install the iso.

I then tried the solutions Sunborn is offering in his post (in the thread about Monark) and it almost lead me there with the solution 3 (revealing the hidden files of each package), but it was taking ages because there was crazy security steps for each little file.

One solution I found to speed up the process is to bypass Gatekeeper. It seems Tahoe doesn't like the .pkg files from NI and doesn't think they're safe, so it's blocking them.
When bypassing Gatekeeper, I can install a library but only if I show the hidden files and install the small hidden .pkg files one by one.

It's actually a HUGE MESS. And it's only with Native Instruments : everything else (so far) is working fine and I can install iso and pkg from other devs without much trouble.

By the way, I did read the other threads but it seems they speak about different problems : Native Access is working great for me, and I don't install anything on an external disk.
It's only older versions I archived in .iso that are making problems.

When will this be fixed ?

It’s not external hard drive problem. It’s old installers incompatibility with Tahoe, check the recent thread about some Heavyocity libraries in NA causing exactly the same error:

Ok, thanks for your answer.. But what can I do with outdated products I need to install because I'm still using Kontakt 6 ?
I was actually able to install old iso files, but with a pretty crazy method :

bypass gatekeeper on my mac using the terminal
displaying hidden files
then after mounting iso files, using the hidden (now revealed) .pkg files instead of the main .pkg file

It takes ages, because for a library like Noire for exemple there are maybe 10 different .pkg files… But it works…
Are you planning on updating the old versions also ?

Since anything older than Kontakt 8 is not supported on Tahoe anyway - cannot see them redoing every old installer out there. There is a reasonable line to be drawn here.

Is there a specific reason you need to stay on Kontakt 6? Becuase if you are now running Tahoe (and presumably the "next" MacOS at some point as well) - things are just going to get more difficult as time rolls on.

I just need to recall old sessions. I use Ableton Live, and there's no Kontakt migration feature (this could save me hours and hours of mental torture).
By the way, Kontakt 6 works perfectly fine under Tahoe…

Totally understood.

But working or not - Kontakt 6 has been discontinued for several years now and is no longer supported by NI under any OS.

Bonus for you - Kontakt 6 remains fully available in Native Access - I can see it onscreen here - ready to be installed.

However - hoping for a sudden rewrite of all the old Kontakt 6 installer tech to work with current Mac systems is a bit of a stretch here in 2026 (and beyond).

Just to be perfectly clear : actually I don't have any issues in installing Native Instruments plugins and libraries when using Native Access. I could install whatever I want from Native Access on my new Mac running Tahoe !
My issue is with my .iso archives of old libraries that I don't want to update because of Kontakt 6 compatibility and that are obviously not available on Native Access.
But even with these, I was finally able to install them using some tricks (bypassing gatekeeper and using the hidden .pkg files of each installer).
