Installation VST 2 not possible -> lots of projects loose integrity -> no workaround

As I researched, I found absolutely no way to migrate past projects efficiently to new VST3 Versions. it just silently fails, because the plugin doesn't offer a migration path.

Any experience for NI and Ableton 12, how to migrate the projects with VST versions?

Actually if you are referring to Komplete Kontrol or Kontakt these do offer migration, the problem is the host also must support it, and Ableton Live does not.

If referring to Komplete Kontrol then I personally am not aware that there is any automatized migration available.

It's more complicated with Komplete Kontrol because it is a host and a plugin. As a host it supports migration from VST2 to VST3 plugins if the plugin also supports it. In practice most developers seem to have only implemented that sort of migration partially but it works well for some (I made a list ages ago)

As a plugin whether it is possible to migrate from the VST2 (2.9.6) to VST3 I think depends on the host, but the crucial factor is if the loaded plugin doesn't support it then it will fail anyway. So in the majority of cases it may not.
