Inmusic acquisition - Traktor and Denon, the time is now!

This has to be the moment where Traktor and Denon join forces to make a serious platform to complete with AT.
The onelibrary update to Traktor would allow cross platform usage extremely simple.
I would love to see engineos sidelined and traktor become the platform for all of the denon equipment.
I'm genuinely excited for the new era of NI, I really hope this acquisition works out for the best.

Since the announcement, my imagination has been regularly conjuring up fantastic, cross-platform possibilities that could now arise.

On the software side, a lot of positive developments have taken place with Engine recently. I don't believe that Traktor will replace anything here just yet, but rather that cross-platform work will become easier in the medium term. For example: The integration with the RANE System One, where Serato is essentially relegated to second place. It would be really cool if I could more easily use or migrate my Traktor library with Engine to play on standalone devices and we'll see how this aligns with the original plans for the One Library with AT. Hopefully, both remain possible.

Basically, though, I'm really hoping that we'll finally see a boost in Traktor's development. That is, that more power and resources can be invested to catch up on what's still outstanding and keep pace with the competition.

On the hardware side, there are also exciting possibilities with RANE and Numark. Even AKAI has some interesting modular controllers, but I currently doubt that we'll see any integrations of old Hardware right from the start, if at all. The suddenly available potential seems to be primarily from our users' perspective. From a business and strategic point of view, it will probably be quite some time before we see any initial results that would indicate the direction things are heading, and that will primarily involve completely new hardware, not existing components.

Is it likely though, that more people will be joining the team at Native Instruments because inMusic owns the company? I suspect they will just carry on as they were.

I certainly hope so. It would definitely be desirable. Traktor's potential is still there; it just needs to be fully utilized again. I've long suspected that the developers are also working on other internal platforms. The development cycles at least suggest this. More intensive work under the hood of Maschine for example rarely coincides with similar work/progress in Traktor or Komplete, etc.

Edit: If the finances are secure, I could imagine that they would like to increase staffing, provided suitable personnel can be found.

Personally I see more potential with the Rane stuff. A Rane Twelve Mk.2 with Traktor HID integration: Banger! Only downside with that would be that the Twelve Mk.2 is designed for battle setup - but that is a minor issue.

Or a Rane One or Performer with Traktor integration as alternative to S4 Mk3 (as MX 4 if it is still coming has no moving platters anymore). Nice.

In the Denon DJ world only SC 6000M would be interesting for me but that thing seems to be discountinued. Still listed on Denons website but not really available anywhere.

But as I am currently happy with my setup and have no real needs I can relax and look what will happen.

I completely agree with you. I myself own two RANE Twelves and a Seventy. That would be my absolute wildest dream with HID and a mapping for Traktor.

I don't expect anything with the next Traktor update. On Friday just an agreement has signed that says inMusic will buy Native Instruments. The sale is not yet done! There is still a chance that this deal will be stopped by antitrust laws. I don' expect that to happen - but there is a small possibility.

The integration of NI into inMusic cannot start before all contracts are signed and the acquisition is final. And things will take time from this point. OneLibrary support is promised since fall 2025 - the release providing this feature is still missing. Phase HID support was promised even before that - still nothing. Somebody has to code all these wishes. And Traktor compatibility with all Rane controllers seems likely in the long run. But to be realistic this is maybe only possible with new products. There are maybe contracts in place with Serato that prohibit official support with other platforms for inMusic. If not some products maybe are to close to end of life to make that effort.

And one thing I don't expect at all: A Rane Z2 Mk2. There is a Rane Seventy. If at all this or its sucessor will be Traktor compatible.

x1850 receiving BPM from Traktor would be awesome for me!

would love to see Traktor on my SC5000Ms but not holding my breath as they are pretty old…

Hopefully InMusic can turbocharge the updates and add all the features we've been requesting.
