Hello everyone. So, I recently got a Maschine Plus in an eBay auction. Upon receiving and trying to set it up, it's clear it's still registered in someone else's name, and I can't use it in standalone mode, which is why I bought it. I contacted the seller, and they said they purchased it from someone else, so they can't help me reach out to the original owner for the transfer. I sent the Native Instruments team a message explaining the situation, and they said I had to buy the software, which I already own because I have an MK3, and that I needed to reach out to the owner, which I already tried. I once again explained the situation and asked them if they could help me or if I should just return it. It's now been several days, and I haven't received a reply. Can anyone give me any insight into this? Is there anything I can do?

I once again explained the situation and asked them if they could help me or if I should just return it. It's now been several days, and I haven't received a reply. Can anyone give me any insight into this? Is there anything I can do?

Is this a second ticket ? Opening more tickets will only create confusion and delays.

Problem is that when you contact NI support then you will receive an AI auto-response and it is important that you answer this response to let NI know that you still need their assistance. This is also valid in general , if you have a support ticket with NI then always respond to their emails as long as that you still need help , else the ticket will close.

You need to respond to the ticket and make it clear that you are asking for help transferring the unit because that you can not reach previous owner. Also tell them that you bought on E-bay and give a copy of receipt and a photo of serial on bottom of device.

NI will then try to contact previous owner and see if they object or approve of a transfer and NI will then either do the transfer or have to reject if previous owner objects.

I'm curious how the person you bought it from was using it, if they hadn't obtained a transfer ID from the original owner.

Maybe the first owner didn't perform a reset, and owner #2 was able to use it that way (with default content) - but then if you can't use it, owner #2 presumably did reset it… 🤔

Normally NI would be able to contact the original owner via the serial number, so it's unusual for them to say you have to buy the software - unless you only have Maschine 2 and it requires 3.

maybe it was a second hand shop on eBay , I was recently looking to buy one on eBay from a shop that didn’t have a transfer id , but it was unlisted before I made a decision

Ended up with one from someone who had brought it before the 60 day lock had expired, and didn’t know how ni transfer system works , so had to contact support myself to help get it sortEd out.

Yeah PK I'm not 100% sure but judging from the ebay sellers account it looks to me like they buy and resell allot of things so I would bet money they bought it from the original owner for cheap after looking up its value and not knowing anything about the register transfer just to flip it and make profit . So my guess is the seller 2nd owner never even used it just bought it to sell it . But that's all hypothetical.

Thanks Poorfellow ! I only responded to the email and didn't open another ticket thankfully and that totally makes more sense now it definitely felt like a bot response and left me feeling uncertain. After seeing some similar posts from people I did go back and resend them another email with both the serial and the receipt. So hopefully they will get to me soon and be able to help me in a timely manner it just sucks that I'm stuck with so much anxiety because if I don't return with in the ebay return policy 30 days I'm stuck with a useless machine plus. So hopefully someone can help me before then 🙏 thanks for your response. Any idea how long until ib may receive a reply when should I be concerned? Lol

Problem with trying to estimate that is that for NI to try to help then they will have to contact previous owner and then give them some time to respond before getting back to you. I have no idea how much time they use on processing.

However then Aldread in the above called for Jeremy_NI so there is a chance that he will look into the delay and give you some news with respect to processing at least.

Thank you too everyone who took the time to respond and help me better understand the situation my fingers are crossed as a new father I wanted to get the machine + to be able to make beats with out being attached to my studio and my desktop computer! So if by some miracle @Jeremy NI sees this im begging please help lol

Jeremy_NI is a NI employee and only works normal work hours so unless he decides to do some after hours work then he will not be back before Friday or later.
