Why is Komplete Kontrol Ver.3 showing in NA?

Why is Komplete Kontrol software ver.3 is NOT compatible with Komplete Kontrol S49 MK1 keyboards and yet it is still showing in Native Access as being available to update to ver.3..? If I choose to update, my MK1 becomes useless... The same goes for the latest version of Maschine ver.3... What a joke.- Not funny though...

Also here : The S-Series MK1 keyboards has been declared EOL by Native Instruments which means that S88 MK1 is not supported by the newer versions of Komplete Kontrol. Please see this post for explanation.

It will never be compatible. the MK1 series was retired in 2023.

While I agree - it's a odd (and scary) choice to offer this to you - NA is designed to show the latest and the greatest at all times.

It is also not smart enough to know you have a retired board - nor is it designed to offer you retired software either - like a fresh copy of Komplete Kontrol v2.9.6 (that was designed for the MK1)

In your case - you would be best to not worry about what NA is offering (because this will never change) - and focus on what NOT to click on (and read plenty of Release Notes) before installing anything from NA here in mid 2026.

The best "intended" customer for NA at this time is a Komplete S-Series MKIII user that can use the latest and greatest products for their board/hardware.

Thanks for all replies, but is there any way to make my "ancient" Kontrol S49 NOT to show in Native Access updates to version 3 that is clearly NOT compatible with my S49 MK1..? I thought that NI Accsess will be more than capable of to determine what hardware I own and provide updates only to the software and hardware accordingly… Obviously that is not the case…

"Hiding" unwanted products in NA has been a long requested feature - but has not found any traction thus far.

You need to do what I do (I have the s61 MKII here and do not want KK v3.5.3 either) - I simply ignore it.

Yeah Native Access doesn't determine what is compatible for what you have or offer an option to install an older version of software, hide things you are not interested in or even uninstall what it has installed. It is just a basic installer but with advertising. I rarely bother to update any NI software if it's running fine and never would I use "update all" in NA.

I recommend highly to keep a downloaded copy of things like Komplete kontrol especially if you are still on the MK1. It is downloadable from the NI download archive area but a local copy is also a strong recommendation.

Especially with present (uncertain) situation for NI - best to keep installers for anything that does not require NA activation (drivers, free software, etc.)
