What are your thoughts on "evolution" of Session guitarist series?

Session guitarist series.

Spoiler, I have them all. I am a huge fan of earlier titles, but I feel that while NI (drumasonic) tried to introduce new features into newer ones in the last 2 years, they significantly declined in artistic quality. Here what I mean:

Acoustic Sunburst Delux - some kind of phrase remix from earlier Acoustic series. Not nearly enough interesting phrases, riffs.

Electric Storm - While different from other offerings, almost completely useless for slower tempos. Sounds, (clean - no FX) are very dull. This particular instrument is not as universal as others.

Electric Ruby Delux - Is OK, but very "average" and predictable. The better one from 4 listed here.

Electric Neon - an epic failure. Some chopped up loops / phrase remix from earlier stuff. Something I would expect from $20 (on sale) U-jam guitar instrument.

Am I alone in this conclusion?

Some folks (like me) - like everything we are getting. Some don't.

For those that don't - the solution is simple - don't buy them.

But NI is not the driver here - Drumasonic is. Whatever they decide - is what they decide.

I would also add - if you are expecting these instruments to provide vast, detailed, limitless phrasing or note by note editing and other super specific granular guitaristic things that only a well practiced human could pull off on a guitar - maybe you are over thinking this whole series.

For me - personally - I choose a Session instrument to be the "backup guy" to compliment and anchor my compositions as needed. Nothing more. They are not chosen (or intended) to replace me - or "out-skill" me on a given track - as a player.

To be brutally honest - I usually think of these things as the missing "EZGuitarist" type instruments that our friends in Sweden (Toontrack) have yet to come up with.

As long as I continue to think about them in this way - they are worth every penny.
