Thread Title: Traktor Pro 4.5 "Silent Update" reset my 7-year user profile and collection
Hi everyone,
I’m writing this to see if anyone else has experienced a "silent" or automatic update to Traktor Pro 4.5.0 that resulted in a total reset of user data.
I have been a consistent Traktor user for 7 years, and I am very meticulous about manual updates to ensure platform continuity. Today, I opened Traktor and was greeted by the "Welcome" splash screen as if I were a brand-new user. My entire collection (7 years of cues, grids, and playlists) was gone, and my hardware routing for my Allen & Heath DB4and Union Audio setup was reset to defaults.
The Issue:
- I did not manually trigger an update via Native Access.
- Upon inspection, Traktor had created a new, empty Root Folder (
Traktor 4.2.0 directory) and generated a fresh collection.nml (31 KB) instead of loading my existing 178 MB collection. - I was able to recover by manually right-clicking the "Track Collection" node and importing a backup from March 18th, but the fact that the software bypassed my manual update preference is alarming.
My Setup:
- Software: Traktor Pro 4 (recently jumped to 4.5.0 unexpectedly)
- Hardware: Allen & Heath DB4 / Union Audio analog mixer
- OS: macOS (latest)
Questions for the community/NI Team:
- Has anyone else had TP4 update "outside" of Native Access or without explicit user permission?
- Is there a background daemon (NTKDaemon?) that might be forcing these "critical" stability updates and inadvertently resetting the Root Path?
- For those of us with nearly a decade of library data, how can we prevent Traktor from "losing the map" to our existing Documents folder during these minor point releases?
I managed to get back up and running, but this "first-run" experience after 7 years of professional use is a heart-sink. Any insights on locking down the update process would be appreciated.
