Not the first. Maybe not the best approach. Open Source 99% (almost).
What do you think guys?
…..but you need two of them? IMO they should have put it in one box. 500 Euros! Ouch.
Neat. Looks cool.
Would not call this "standalone traktor" though :D
DVS on a Raspberry Pi is not really new indeed, you can also run Mixxx on a single RPi.
I know this isn’t newer concept but it’s the first going crowdfunding AFAIK…
Do you think it will interesting/success a device like this but with Traktor? Traktor+?
I can share other proposals if you are interested. This concept is something I was searching more than 15 years ago but IDK if it makes sense nowadays since iPad approach seems 10 times easier, powerful and not so expensive… but even iPad approach isn’t Traktor standalone.
The nearest Traktor Standalone nowadays is DjMirror+mac (RIP Traktor dj 2 app on iPad).
This is not the future of DVS. The future of DVS is an all in one mixer, computer (incl. expandable storage), midi controller & USB hub. I have to believe that the next generation of battle/performance mixer will deliver this. I bet they are in advanced development at Pioneer/Alpha Theta, Rane and Reloop.
I'd hoped it was in development at NI for Traktor, and that was the reason that we hadn't ever seen a Z2 MK2, but I don't think that's gonna happen now… 😭
This feels like an interim step towards that - no laptop/computer required, but, a bunch of new spaghetti!
The move from DVS with an external audio interface (and ALL THAT SPAGHETTI!) to a mixer with built in usb audio/dvs interface, was game changing for me. Under no circumstances would I be ADDING any spaghetti back into my set up, ever.
Well something like the middle section of Rane System One… (or just an iPad with any regular mixer supporting class compliant)
Well it seems apple OSs are ”merging“ (there’s no reason to run macos over iPad Pro after the Mac Neo) so maybe we are not so long from something in the view you describe. I also waited that from Pioneer since long ago but when the CRSS12 was released I lost any hope (for that price just a glorified Numark X2 with Rane Twelve-like brain…)
Someone should hire Dj Greeb and mass market his developments…
But still not Traktor standalone… and I don’t think NI is going this route neither @Patch… They seem more interested on “simplify” (from their last statements before the economic mess) so maybe it will not be any new battlemixer at all. I hope be wrong and turntable users still being a market for them.
The nearest could be a tablet stand with hub* and usb-c touchscreen** (like DjMirror proposes) and mac mini M4. Not cheap but almost full Traktor experience (and probably cheaper than NI alternative… we forgotten the M+ release price? 1.6k euros…) or just a D2 with mac mini ducktaped and audio interface xD
Almost it will get 2 or 4 decks…
Keep sharing thoughts and wishful thinking maybe NI has something in the pipeline (once the economic issue situation gets behind) or maybe just talking users get some traktion…

500 euro for a pi runnin pideck/pidvs with a custom ui is a tad bit steep. otherwise, adding dvs capability to engine is seems like the next logical progression for InMusic. I can imagine we will see the first all-in-one battle mixer in whatever replaces the Seventy Two.
PiDVS developer was hired by Denon long ago.
Have ya'all looked at the Pi prices recently? The 4GB pi5 version is 120 EUR barebone. Pi + soundcard + PSU + touchscreen + sd. Then double it up for a pair.
The dac alone is 45 EUR: https://www.hifiberry.com/shop/boards/dac2-pro/
Not even speaking of shipping or time for custom UI, manuals etc. —————- I'm having my own project where I control my Eventide H9 fx unit with a pi:
And I also want to add Traktor playlist support. So the laptop with traktor can be hidden away, and you just have a very basic display for track selection.
