Hey all,
I followed the instructions to connect my s88 to cubase 15, but for some reason none of the controls work. For instance, the transport does not respond when I press play or stop on my s88 mk3.
Do you have the HCS (Hardware Connection Service) properly installed in latest version of Native Access for your OS ?
Also Reference TimRae_NI , The Hardware Connection Service is supposed to copy a .jsfile to the Cubase folder when it runs. However you can also try to manually copy the .js file yourself. Please go to the following folder on your computer:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\NativeInstruments\Hardware\Hardware Connection Service
There should be a folder in there called NativeInstrumentswhich has a .js file in it.
NativeInstruments
Copy this folder into your Cubase DriverScripts\Local folder and then restart Cubase.
.
Else then what is your exact version of Windows 10 ?
thanks so much. I will try this tonight!
unfortunately my native instruments folder does not have the file you are referring to. Instead it looks like this:
Thank you , but you left out the answer to the essential question : Do you have the HCS (Hardware Connection Service) properly installed in latest version of Native Access for your OS ?
How to set up your Kontrol S-Series MK3
Did you update the keyboard firmware ?
@feeserface Please check these few articles:
How to Set Up a Kontrol Keyboard with Your DAW
These are for Maschine controllers or MK2 keyboards. For the MK3 it's the Hardware COnncetion Service who handles the communication between the keyboard and your computer.
The firmware is the newest firmware, or at least the updater says so. I can't seem to find the Hardware Connection service. I just dl'd NA2 again and am trying to reinstall.
So I just reinstalled the NA2 from the site. I still don't see a hardware connection folder. But my NA2 is stuck on the loading products screen - I've followed the directions on this website: https://support.native-instruments.com/hc/en-us/articles/18832455607069-Native-Access-freezes-on-Loading-Products-at-startup
but still have the problem and no Hardware Connection Folder.
Please try the following to see if that makes any difference :
First uninstall Native Access in Windows apps
Then uninstall the NTKDaemon in Windows apps
Then run the NI reg tool and remove anything NativeAccess and NTKDaemon
If still there then also remove registry entries and files as described in Native Access freezes on “Loading Products“ at startup
Then delete also the Native Access folder from %AppData%\Native Instruments\
Then reboot computer (important)
Then download and install Hardware Connection Service from Account downloads (If you can not find the Hardware Connection Service there then try to see if you can use the Hardware Connection Service download)
Then download and install latest version of Native Access for your OS as an Admin
Then check if N.A. will run
If the above helps then continue with step 5 of the How to set up your Kontrol S-Series MK3 and update the keyboard firmware. (If N.A. works and you could not find the HCS then try going through the setup from the start)
If the above does not help then please contact N.I.Support (all)
@feeserface I quickly checked your account and could only see a S88 mk1 registered. There is no S88 mk3 registered, once registered the Hardware Connection Service should show up in Native Access.
I just bought it from Amazon a few weeks ago ... didn't even see the registration card...
Then you need to follow the How to set up your Kontrol S-Series MK3
If you have N.A. problems then try following my N.A. related advice in the above.
Well if you find the registration card please register. The serial is also on the back of the device. If you need assistance for the registartion pleasse get in touch with my colleagues here: https://support.native-instruments.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
Without this you won't be able to use the keyboard as it should.
Should have been a black envelope affixed to the inner wall of the carton - has all the details in it.
