Some Maschine expansion updates larger than others

I've been updating my Maschine expansions over the last few months (I have every expansion released) and notice that some updates are on the order of 4.5GB where others are 2MB. The release notes for t state: "NICNT file for improved Native Access performance and integration". Why such a large difference for some and not for others. I thought maybe the correlation to the larger updates would be for newer expansions but that's not always the case. Thanks.

The actual "updates" are only 2MB.

However - if you actually are seeing a 4.5 GB file downloading in it's entirety - that is not an update. And is probably not even an Expansion. I do not recall any Expansion being that large.

Which one was advertised as 4.5GB?

Jersey Ride is 3.66GB and that's the biggest on my system (I've got all of them too).

Just now in N.A. :

E.g. Indigo Dust update says 4.3 GB in N.A. , yet on the N.I. site it only says 1.76 GB , also after uninstalling the expansion then when reinstalling it only says 2.25 GB to install , and after install actual space used was 2.1 GB.

So all in all a bit weird

Replying to Vocalpoint, see Global Shake and Infamous Flow, these are indeed a Maschine expansions, similar to what Poor Fellow has shown with Indigo Dust. I haven't bothered to check the after download size nor what NI actual says on its site, just wondering why the download size varies from expansion to expansion, yet the release notes are identical.

The size listed is the total size for the installed library.

Updates can and will vary - widely. Based on included content.

All newer updates now use a new “delta” based tech where just the updated files need to be downloaded.

Hence the 2MB “*.nicnt” files are tiny and there is no need to “redownload “ the entire library when an update is posted.

All of my recent Expansion updates (regardless of actual advertised library size) have taken mere seconds to download and update. 27 of them to date.

If an Expansion “update” was actually redownloading the full installed library size - like say 4.5GB - that would take minutes not seconds.

Yes, I have no concern about download size or time taken to download and understand how/what the 2MB NICNT files are for, but, back to my original question (and maybe I'm not getting your answer clearly) - I've been using NA and purchasing Maschine expansions since 2013 and it's only been over the last 6 months or more that I've started seeing expansion "update" files on the order of 4 GB - OR maybe it's just the way NA is showing this versus years beforem where some updates are just the 2MB NICNT file ("The size listed is the total size for the installed library), if that makes any sense.

The advertised size IN Native Access represents the size of the initial download/install.

As Poorfellow notes - these sizes are not particularly accurate either so don’t put a lot of stock into what you see.

That “advertised” size has nothing to do with the size of any updates available (or applied) now or in the future.

A 4.5gb update here (if that was even possible) would take 5-7 minutes to complete. Not the 20 seconds for each of these Expansions I have been seeing recently.
