Hello,
I am not a Native Instruments user but an IT support technician. I am working to resolve an issue with a Mac lab at one of our schools that uses Native Access.
SUMMARY OF ISSUE
Native Access will only download files for the user account it was initially installed on. For each other user on the computer, they immediately receive a generic error "download failed". This is occurring on all our computers running Native Access 3.22. Downgrading Native Access to 3.16 (my last stable package), resolved the issue so this is where the lab is at now. However, the teacher wants Native Access updated.
I am assuming this is a permissions issue, but I am having trouble identifying which file(s) could be responsible for this behavior as it is the act of downloading the file.
CONFIGURATION
MacOS 14.8.3 (Sonoma)
Mac Studio (M2 Max, 2023)/64GB RAM/4TB hard drive - lab machines
Mac Mini (M1, 2020)/ 16GB RAM/ 512GB hard drive - test machine
My test hardware is different than the lab computers, but the behavior is the same, so I do not expect hardware to be the cause.
TROUBLESHOOTING STEPS PERFORMED
Verified there was sufficient available storage on the computers.
Erased a computer and did not restore from a backup, issue persists.
Verified NTK Daemon is running at login.
Verified iCloud Relay is disabled (iCloud blocked on student machines, and Relay is blocked on all machines in our district).
Verified that NTK Daemon and Native Access both have Full Disk Access (adjusted the setting manually and via an MDM Configuration Profile).
Verified that download settings are set to default.
Attempted to change download settings to a Shared folder, issue persists.
This behavior persists whether using the download direct from the Native Instruments website or is pushed to the computers via MDM. When pushing via MDM, the package is unmodified.
The issue is not related to our content filter as it works on the initial user account that Native Access is installed on. It does not matter if the initial account is a standard user or admin user.
Many other steps were done via MDM before I realized this issue occurred with the installer directly from the Native Instruments website and not a modified package I had been working with.
My 3.16 installer package is modified to bypass admin credentials for installing Native Access, the NTK Daemon, and dependencies. The package also auto-accepted the end user license agreement as our students are not allowed to do this.
