The legacy downloads only has updates. How do I find the Kore 2.14 installer?
I'm on Mac.
Thanks
Hello ,
Alas it doesn't say if this is also for Mac but you can try yourself (and I do not know if it will run on your OS). Perhaps it can be activated using Native Access (The 2.4.1 update is needed to be able to be activated by Native Access.) , but if not then you have to ask the help / assistance of N.I. Support (all) . Also please notice that NI Support is stressed and overloaded at the moment , quote Tedd from NI : "be prepared to wait and kindly practice some empathy for the very hard working, stressed out humans who are now fielding a large amount of requests on top of their normal day-to-day."
Courtesy of Isti_NI then instructions are these :
you can download the Kore 2.iso directly from here.
Simply make sure that you also download and install the 2.1.4 update from this place:
.
in case of download problems then try logging in into Google first, if that doesn't help then copy the download to own Google drive before the download.
The above ought to help you circumvent the download limit.
Kore 2 was discontinued in 2011. So it's been 15 years. And it's probably been 12 years since the last versions of Kontakt or "other" libraries that could work within it.
And that makes me VERY curious, because I love Kore 2. The chrome-ish finish, the knob, the Klingon Red display; man it was all kinds of gorgeous.
If the controller could somehow be made useful, I'd sure like to know how, even if it's not in a 100% music related context. I've still got 2 controllers, and as far as I know, they should still work, as long as there was a driver and software on the computer end.
Sorry I should have said…I've had Kore 2 running successfully for the last 15 years. It never stopped working, it also works with all my 3rd party VST's and the hardware still is working. It's been remarkably robust, at least on Mac though I hear it's good on Windows too.
I've always used Migration Assistant for successive computers and it's always just worked! Incredible.
But now I have just made the transition to Silicon Mac. I thought that would be the end but no!..it works perfectly. Well not quite perfectly.
This time I didn't use Migration Assistant and just dragged all the components of Kore across and after a day of careful back and forth my whole Kore set up is running under Rosetta.
However, the only problem is the authorisation which I cannot get to 'stick'. I've tried Native Access 1 and now NA2 and entered my Serial and it registers and it says I have successfully authorised…but when I open Kore I get a pop up that asks me to either run in demo or buy or authorise.
Trouble is, it's wanting to find Service Center, which simply won't run on any 64bit architecture ( I think)…though Kore has run fine without Service Centre on my Intel Macs.
But it might be because I need to reinstall as opposed to dragging the old components over. Hence the request.
EDIT: we both posted simultaneously- thank you! I will try with this.
I have updated my post above with whatever information that I have at the moment.
I don't know if a reinstall will help , possibly , but I don't know , I neither have any Mac nor do I have any Kore 2.
Otherwise then perhaps someone else in this forum can help you further….
Thanks PoorFellow, I'll let the community know what happens :)
EDIT: I have a feeling the installers are not going to run on Mac Silicon hence my 'dragging over' might be the only way.
P.S.
This advice from Kymeia could possibly be applicable (?) :
I rather doubt it will run on M2, although worth a shot using Rosetta. I had terrible problems with it past Big Sur though (even before moving to Apple Silicon). I have it running still on my old iMac on Mohave, much better there.
The trick to getting the installer to run (assuming it could work on Apple Silicon, which I am not sure of) is to remove the OS version check by going inside the installer (right click "show package contents') and swapping the distribution.dist file for this one
Cool, thank you!..like you read my mind
OK reporting back
Sadly the installer linked (which has both Mac and Windows installers btw) will not work on Silicon Mac, which is no surprise.
So, I think I have taken it as far as possible- a fully working installation of Kore 2 on Mac Sequoia with all my libraries, database and third-party vst's working..but only in 30 minute demo blocks of time! I can live with that as Kore is worth it.
One more thing- Reaktor 5 is proving to be sketchy but I'm not done with that one yet- same issue, wants to see Service Center even though Native Access has authorised it…grrrr.
Also I have not tested the hardware yet- will report back. I think it's a big no though.
Do keep us up to date.
Maybe I'll break out one of my old Kore 2 controllers and just see what it can still do (if anything) on Windows 11.
My Mac is an M1 model, and it still has Rosetta on it, but I think I'll have similar problems to you with it on that computer.
