Buying used Maschine MK3 - do I need to buy a license?

Looking to get a used MK3. In order to be able to access/download and use the Maschine software, should a used MK3 come with a license that is transferrable? If it does and the current owner does not have it, is there a way to register the controller itself to be able to get license to use the software or would I have to purchase the software from NI?

The current owner should have a licence for the hardware that they can transfer to you. They only transfer the hardware, you get then get the software automatically. If they don't have the hardware licence they could transfer you the software licence they're using.
