Choosing the Most Reliable Setup for CDJ‑2000 Nexus with Traktor

Hi everyone, for over 10 years I’ve been using my old late‑2014 MacBook Pro updated to Mojave with Traktor 3.5, along with an Audio 6, an X1, and an F1, running 3 channels. Lately I’ve been wanting to play with CDJs again, and I have quite a few gigs coming up. This Saturday I have an important event and they’ll have CDJ‑2000 Nexus.

Would you recommend using the CDJs with the Audio 6 in timecode mode with CDs, or connecting the CDJs to the laptop via a powered USB hub? Which setup is more reliable? I also don’t know yet whether the mixer will have a built‑in audio interface.

If I connect the CDJs to my laptop through a powered USB hub, can I still use the X1?

The NI audio 6 and 10 interfaces are amazing, best and easiest way now a days is having the audio interface already built into the mixer, just the routing for the dvs if your still using that, but the CDJ HID control is amazing the setup is plug and play you'll have waveforms, loops, sync and browser etc on the CDJs. A powerd hub will always be the better option.

i used the Audio 8 and 10 for many years and was amazing, though things have changed as i play in many clubs and venues that have the Pioneer cdj;s or mixers and it is way easier and very reliable now to use HID mode or go through the mixer internal sound card. few notes to remeber if you are going to use the cdj as a soundcard with HID mode make sure you down load CDJ aggregator from Pioneer website as you will need that to aggregate the cdj's so traktor can read both else you will have issues with only playing out of one cdj, secondly if you have a mixer with internal sound card make sure youn download the driver for that particular mixer and go to thew club early to set it all up. my prefered method is internal mixer, works like a cahrm and then have the cdjs hooked up via usb to work in hid mode. that way i get all the info and waveforms on the cdj screen.
