Do I need Native Access installed for official Kontakt Libraries to remain authorized?

Hi all,

I bought NI Komplete Standard over Black Friday and now have more time to get back playing. I love Noire but it stopped working twice now after 10 - 15 minutes; saying it cant access Native Access, which is true - it can not do so as I deinstalled Native Access after downloading and authorizing, since I want my production machine to remain offline and don't want to receive updates.

I'm fine with reinstalling but still, it is a little odd I think:

1) It nowhere says that I need Native Access installed all the time I believe. Why'd that be necessary when I want my machine to remain offline anyway (like iLok)? Can someone confirm that its written somewhere? My bad in that case.

2) It works for said 10-15 minutes without asking me for anything, no nag screen saying it would be a demo version or something since it is not, after all. I was surprised as it did not even recall my saved state in FL Studio after relaunching my project. No sign that it would not do so when saving my project either.

3) Other plugins don't have that issue. Massive, FM8, Reaktor, Guitar Rig all fine.

If someone could affirm that I just need to install Native Access again then it's all good as I know I am using my products in an maybe unintended fashion. By the way I also uninstalled NTKDaemon as its purpose is for updating plugins is what people say... And last year before I had Komplete, I used other paid 3rd party Kontakt Player libraries that worked well without Access, so is it a Noire exclusive thing? Thanks!

You need Native Access installed.

When installed - it installs the NTKDaemon authorization service to ensure your licensing remains stable. There is no concept of running any NI product without that service being present.

And your fears about updates are unfounded. Native Access cannot update anything without you actually telling it proceed. If you want your machine to remain untouched - reinstall NA, make sure all the preferences (content locations etc) are all good - and then exit out - forever.

You do not need to ever open it again if you so choose - but you must have NA (and the NTKDaemon) installed for anything to work.

I would however recommend opening it maybe once per month to see if there IS anything you do want.

Again - you are in total control to never install any updates if that's your thing

Finally - many "3rd party libraries" are NON-NKS and as such have no licensing at all. There is nothing to check so no surprise they keep on working. But any NKS library will require NA to authorize it - and the software must be present.
