For the costs associated with the software, the extended lag time which results in hours lost just waiting for files to download is really unattractive and excessive. My system which routinely accesses 1100-1200Mbps is requiring times exceeding 1 hour to download a 38gb file. That's with all antispyware/malware, VPN, antivirus, etc turned off, re-updating the Native Access 2, rebooting the system, pausing, restarting,…….

Please, on the German side, can we update and develop better server access and bandwidth, given that we're paying a fair deal to use software that's very difficult to access in a timely manner?!

I don't know that anyone has a "lock" on the best or most efficient process when downloading virtual instruments. Some are slightly more efficient than others, but all have the same basic process.

First, bear in mind that 1100-1200 Mbps is mega BITS per second not mega BYTES, so a 38gb file is truly a LOT of bits. But all vendors tend to follow a certain process which is to first download the compressed files, uncompress them, then install them and hopefully clean up after themselves by deleting the initial downloaded installation files. Typically it's the sample files that take the most time as they're small, fairly data dense and very numerous, so there's LOTS and LOTS of file opening, uncompressing, and file creation which further slows down the process. But in my experience there's no one that's significantly better at it and many that are WAY worse.

Updating the Native Access data base is a bit slower than some other vendors, but they all have to do it even if they use their own library system. Personally I don't need to re-boot, pause and restart anything as I keep these things up to date on current levels so once it's downloaded it's available and the next step for me is always opening the new download in Kontakt or Komplete Kontrol to check functionality.

A lot really depends on what you're downloading. For example I just downloaded a couple of MassiveX intruments that were about that size this morning which took about 20 minutes, but MassiveX is a different architecture than a legit sampled instrument so the overhead is much less.

Of course given all this file manipulation the bottleneck is often the storage device. In my case everything is stored on SSD drives which dramatically shortens the time over typical HDD or SATA drives.
