Is the Komplete 15 Select Holiday Sale For Real?

Ok, it’s the midst of the holiday sale and I just bought the Absynth 6 update and it came with a coupon for two Massive X expansions. So I went to look at the expansions to see if there was anything worth using with Massive X Player (since I don't own Massive X). My only NI instruments right now are Absynth and FM8.

As I’m poking around the NI site to find the expansions I noticed that Komplete 15 Select Electronic includes Massive X, plus a crapload of other stuff for $50 instead of $100. If I were to buy Massive X by itself, it’s $200 (not currently on sale). Even at the normal $100 price for Komplete Select, why would anyone looking for Massive X buy it standalone instead of inside one of the Komplete bundles?

So am I missing something here or should I get Select for the full version of Massive X to use instead of the free Player?

No you are not missing anything , the only thing you could possibly be missing is that you could even get Komplete Select for free if you bought a keyboard that has it as base software (see list of included software on this keyboard compare page).

Else then yes , what you describe is how it is , you get an absolute 'crapload' of stuff for very little compared to individual prices of things if you buy a Komplete bundle. Savings are even greater at sales and if you buy more (a higher tier bundle) or upgrade then you save even more compared to the accumulated price of stuff that you get. Komplete 15 Standard gives you the full version of NI apps and higher tiers mainly more content…. (see list of included on this bundle compare page)

I’m well aware of the bundling and upgrade paths in teh NI ecosysytem. I have no plans or need to get an NI keyboard, I already use a Nektar P6 with Logic. It interfaces with Komplete Kontrol and I have used it in the past with Absynth and FM8. I have messed around recently with the MX Player and for $50 it would be worth getting the full version.
